Angel del Mar, like all the mariscos restaurants on Paseo del Mar, is an excellent place to go to for seafood. This area is known for their lobster, and it's amazing. The area is located about 10-15 minutes south of Rosarito, and you will not miss it driving down Highway 1.
We were seated at one of the tables overlooking the beach (straight forward from the entrance to the are at the end), and although the view wasn't too spectacular, the food and ambiance were great. As you can see in photo, we ordered a big plate of seafood for 4 (as it suggested in the menu, and I totally blanked on the name of this item sorry) that came with 4 lobster tails, shrimp a la diabla, a big ol fried white fish, fried calamari, fried shrimp, shrimp wrapped in bacon, and ceviche. Overall, we spent approximately $100USD for this plate, a bucket of 12 bottled beers, and a few drinks.
Lobsters were cooked to perfection and everything on the dish was delicious. The meal also came with big sides of rices and beans, which were pretty good. One of the BEST things about authentic Mexican restaurants, like this one, is that their tortillas are literally freshly hand-made and they are so soft and delicious. It's really an underrated part of the meal that really brings everything together and something that not many good restaurants can follow on. The entire meal could have fed about 8 people, if 4 people were willing to not get their own lobster tail.
During the dinner, there were mariachi bands and solo artists walking around to see if the patrons wanted them to play music, and we had a guy sing a few songs for us. Service was nice and prompt. I would recommend this place if you're passing by to Ensenada, or even just staying in Rosarito but want to get your seafood fix on. Cheap prices, spectacular quality...

The atmosphere in this place was fun and lively. A live moving band took requests from patrons and the ocean crashed all around the outdoor space. Unfortunately we didn't have the best view of the ocean since the sills were covered up with tarp, perhaps because of rain?
Our waiter was attentive and we were served very quickly. The margarita wasn't great, but not bad either. I really enjoyed the Calamar Empanizado, Fried and Battered Squid, with ranch and lemon juice, especially because it came in long sticks that reminded me of mozarella sticks instead of the stereotypical round tubes. The texture and flavor was spot on! The Camarones Costa Azul, Shrimp stuffed with Lobster, wrapped in Bacon and Fried in batter with a sweet sauce, was also absolutely incredible! I ordered the Seafood Combo and was pleased with the Lobster and Garlic Fish, which was super tender, but the shrimp were just okay and the steamed vegetables were disgusting. I don't understand why they would serve such poorly prepared vegetables that looked and tasted like a freezer pack of a California Veggie Mix when there's an abundance of fresh produce in Mexico?
Overall we enjoyed dining at this restaurant while vacationing in the area, but it...
Read moreIf your looking for average, here you go. Came on a Saturday the wait was only about 10 minutes and that was us waiting as we were walked over to a dirty table and then told to wait for someone to come over and clean it. 10 minutes later....table cleaned. My boyfriend ordered the lobster special which was a great price of only $18 US dollars for a medium to small size lobster, two tortillas, rice, beans and a margarita. He said it tasted average, but for $18 he was not going to complain. My dish was the issue. Ordered the diablo camarones. It was listed as "very very Hot", I asked if they could lighten the heat a little and was told yes. Mine me, I am mexican and make this for my boyfriend all the time. For me to lighten the heat I just use less chiles or I drop the heat with cream. This dish I could tell by the way it tasted they dropped the heat by adding ketchup Diablo should not taste sweet. I was told my dish comes with tortillas. I did not get them and had to ask twice. So, all in all for the cost of about $37 US dollars it was ok. I know in US that would have been 2-3x more expensive. But, I can say I have has this dish at other restaurants in Rosarito for about the same price and greater quality. In regards to parking, save time if none available and just pay the $10 for one of the side lots. There...
