We took a day trip to Puerto Nuevo specifically to enjoy the famous lobster tails at El Guero, and once again, it did not disappoint! This was my third visit, and the food was just as amazing as I remembered.
Although the day was a bit chilly, we requested seating on the upper floor, and luckily, they had heaters, which made it even more enjoyable. The ambiance was perfect, with live music adding to the experience. One of the things I love about this place is the variety of musicians that stop by to sing at the tables—it truly adds a special touch.
Now, onto the food—the lobster tails were incredible as always! Perfectly cooked and flavorful. The flour tortillas were warm, huge, and reminded me of my grandma’s homemade ones. And the margaritas? Absolute perfection! We ordered two pitchers, and even though I’m not usually a fan, these were just right—not too sweet, not too sour.
Service was excellent—fast and efficient. Even with our party of eight, we were seated quickly since it wasn’t too busy at the time.
Overall rating: 5/5 – Delicious food, great service, and a fantastic atmosphere. Can’t wait...
Read moreSecond time we’ve been there and it was excellent. Starting with the basics - chips and salsa are solid with a strong spicy salsa offering. Guacamole was fresh and reasonable portion (although prices were similar to in the states ~$6). Now the lobster was super good and they were also able to accommodate some dietary restrictions nicely (lard free eating ftw)! We got two of the specials which was 3 half lobster tails, rice, beans, fresh tortillas (which were soooo good) and a margarita for $20 (varies by exchange rate). Their lobster are a bit larger than some of the places nearby offering 4 halves for 18, but it’s probably all the same in the end. Lobster was fresh, easy to eat and decent sizes. Service was kind and helpful and didn’t feel super touristy (although it is). The view is, of course killer. Place was a bit noisy, with random musicians constantly wandering through to play music/serenade you for a tip - my wife had a bit of a headache today, so it was particularly irritating and the meal. Luckily, nobody “wanted” music after the first 10 minutes we were there. Whew! Definitely will...

El Guero was amazing. My girlfriend and our group of friends had originally planned on eating breakfast food which didn't pan out so we decided to try El Guero. It is in Peurto Nuevo and by Villa Ortegas (another classic) and I am so glad we went. The service was incredible and the view was awesome. The upstairs seating is open air so you can dine with a sense of relief that you are getting fresh air and constant circulation. If you have been to Villa Ortegas and like that experience you should definitely give El Guero a shot. This will be our preferred choice from now on!

Cons: Not literally on the water, but I'm just nitpicking. There's...
