The place seems to be open all day. I went at 11am and the place was serving a full menu. Their secret sauce overpowers the flavors of the meat, I'd recommend not including it with the tacos. If you ask, you can get it separate, and add it on you own. Even better, ask for the Guacamole instead, its very tasty if you like avocados. The seating area is spacious and can accommodate large crowds, parking on the other hand may be tricky. They share the space with a car wash. The meats are tasty, though a little dry, the portion size is small. Usually two bites per taco, and the price is a little steeper compared to other places. One concerning observation I made during less busy times is the meat is left on the gyro without rotating it with heat. I would assume that they could at least provide low heat to minimize bacteria growth, but I'm not a taco-meister. I observed that they turned the gyro on when an order was placed, and the meat would get overcooked at times, its not bad if you like your meat crunchy. I've come to this place for a couple years, usually later in the evening, the gyro is on a full spin with high heat. I'd recommend this place for people who are not adventurous traveling deeper in the heart of Tijuana or Playas. They have a large selection of food. The 'Adobada' meat is very good. It's a great place for people exploring the area for the first time. Overall, the...
Read moreTaconazo in Tijuana is hands down my favorite taco spot in the entire city. This place has come a long way—from very humble beginnings to now having a freshly updated exterior that gives it a cleaner, more modern look while still keeping that authentic street food vibe. It’s clear they’ve invested in the space, and it really shows.
But let’s get to the main reason I keep coming back—the food is phenomenal. My absolute go-to is the al pastor tacos “con todo” (with everything). I always ask for the meat to be slightly burned because I love that crispy, caramelized edge—it gives the taco an extra layer of flavor that’s hard to beat. Pair that with a classic Coca-Cola in a glass bottle, and you’re in taco heaven. My second favorite has to be the chorizo tacos—spicy, rich, and just as addicting.
These are the small street-style tacos, which means you can easily eat 6 to 10 without even realizing it. And believe me, I do—every single time I visit. It’s a ritual at this point.
Only downside? Parking can be rough during peak hours, and the spot is right in front of a busy intersection with heavy foot traffic. Luckily, the restaurant has added a barrier to keep homeless individuals from bothering customers, which helps make the eating experience more comfortable.
If you’re in Tijuana and love tacos, Taconazo is an absolute must. Authentic, affordable,...
Read moreBeen coming to this joint for years, I remember back in the day when they were just a taco cart in the corner where they are currently at. They have a full blown restaurant there now. I came here Monday 11/7 and we brought our cat in with us in her carrier, didn't think much about it, until a waiter came up to us and told us pets weren't allowed in there. Okay, no problem, we took her back to the car. I ordered my regular 4 tacos with a media orden of birria with tortillas doradas. Everything went down swimmingly. The food poisoning didn't hit until the very next morning with severe flatulence, fever, chills, vomiting, and diarrhea. I never thought of these people as being vindictive but here we are. ...
