While staying at the Presidente for my girlfriend’s birthday, we had the pleasure of eating at El Caribeño on several occasions. The restaurant is located right on the beach with amazing Caribbean scenery. It has an independent outdoor bar with swing chairs with amazing views. The service is beyond amazing. Edwardo at the restaurant and Angel on the bar. The hostess and the rest of the team were super polite and friendly. They serve a verity Caribbean breakfast buffet ever morning. The fruits, drinks, and pastries were all fresh and tasty. There will be a chef to make your eggs on spot the way you desire. The lunch and dinner foods are not any less impressive with an unbelievably delicious ceviche. The grilled catch of the day is probably my most favorite meal overall. To top the experience they have a long list of beverages alcoholic or non-alcoholic. With prearrangement, they allow for a private intimate dinner on the beach. I took this option and I was not disappointed. Speak to the hotel concierge or the hostesses about this arrangement and they will give you their availability. I didn’t have to do it way ahead of time either, but it is definitely preferred. The nights at the bar, which stays open pretty late, are beyond amazing. If I had more than five stars, I will probably give more. 👏 I will be coming back with my family and friends again,...
Read moreI dont understand how this place has close to 5 stars for reviews. Some of the dishes were almost inedible. EXTREMELY disappointing for a 5 star hotel amd the price we paid. We ordered the Octopus Cappacio, vegan spicy tacos, nepolitana penne and Grilled fish with rice.
The octopus cappacio was nice and there was a generous serving. Lemon dressing was a little acidic but definitely the only decent dish of the night. Served with crackers in a packet.
The vegan spicy tacos were made of stale, thick, leather like corn wrap things, filled with dry and unseasoned lentils and corn. Literally no flavour at all... not even salt.
We had to ask for sauce on the side because it was so dry..
The Fish and rice dish was seasoned well. The fish was however dry and chewy- almost like dry chicken. Clearly it had been frozen and thawed. Very disappointing.
We also ordered the vegetarian penne which was SO acidic from lemon added. I have never had pasta that tarte before.
Guacamole and chips were average. Again, guac was plain and uninspiring. It was literally just smashed avocado- lacked any seasoning.
The service...
Read moreDon’t bother with this restaurant. It’s overpriced, hard to find, and once you arrive, you’re confronted with a very expensive menu! Average price is about 400 MXN pesos per plate and the entrees can go up to 1,000+ MXN pesos. I couldn’t find the menu anywhere online and had to ask several people to get to the restaurant. It’s also not enclosed, so, you deal with the high prices and extreme humidity. Not pleasant at all. The building itself is very nice but sitting in humidity for that price is not the right move. The staff were mostly friendly but they also have a very stupid rule! I asked the host if my wife and I could take one of the tables on the beach and their response was, “Those are reserved for the hotel guests.” What a stupid rule…those tables were empty the whole time we were there…and we were there for 2 hours. The portions were smaller than average. Overall, unless you’re staying at the Intercontinental or don’t mind paying ridiculous prices for a meal, I would...
