Fashion Harbour — Local services in Cancún

Public parking tourist rip-off. Do NOT park in the Fashion Harbour parking lot. We parked in their lot on January 17, 2024 and believe we were ripped-off being Japanese tourists in Cancun. First of all, you pull up and get a ticket in order to enter and park. We ran into another person who had parked there and didn't know how to pay to exit. Since it was our first time parking there, we didn't know either. There is no attendant at the gate and no window where you can pay. We hope they were able to exit! We went shopping in the La Isla shopping mall and returned in 2 hours. When we went to exit, again there was no attendant and no one around to pay or help with exiting. We wandered around and found a doorway into an office and found a woman who took our ticket and inserted it into a reader then told us the fee was $20 USD. We said we had only parked for 2 hours but she just said to pay in order to exit. They would not take a credit card. Reluctantly we paid $20 USD cash and then when we went to exit, she walked to the gate and opened it after I gave her the punched ticket. Afterwards, I wondered why we didn't get a receipt and if she had just pocketed some of the exorbitant parking fee? This parking operation needs to be investigated as it smells of a scam. How can any reputable business charge $20 for parking 2 hours? This is a plain rip-off! So, a word to the wise, stay clear of this parking garage. I will be filing a complaint...
