Mr Habanero- the food was good, there was free bathrooms and air conditioning which is why we came but they cheated us out of our money. To be specific the meat plates for four was 900 pesos and the meat plate for two was 500. There were five of us, but this man said “hey I’ll just split the meat plate of 4 that you purchased onto two separate plates to make it easier for you, but I’ll keep the same price that you paid, sound good?” And of course we said yes because it would make it easier for us to eat since they gave us a huge table. At the end of the dinner he was very kind but refused to show us the itemized receipt he had until we had started to become heated. He had charged us incorrectly for what he had promised us which was in his words “his way of showing his friendship”. He then gaslit us by saying “no ma’am I never said that, I said that it would be a small difference you had to pay”. Mind you all 5 of us at our party heard this man tell us that it would be the price of the 4 that we had agreed upon. He kept saying that it was not so and I got furious and left. I told this man that I was not okay with being lied to my face before I left. It was incredibly disrespectful. My family mentioned that Francisco, our server, was not the person to return the card to our family, it was another server. They mentioned that Francisco had purposely avoided seeing the rest of our party out of, in my grandmothers words, “shame for what he did”. I don’t suggest coming here unless you record the interactions with your servers and ensure they’re charging you correctly, if not they’ll be sure to take advantage of you...
Read moreThis restaurant is located in the Mercado 28. We got hungry and hot from all the walking around so we decided to give this place a try. Our waiter was very friendly and outgoing and he made sure we were well taken care of. The restaurant had great A/C and we definitely enjoyed that because it was so hot outside. They had a really good selection on their menu. We ordered a margarita and it was really good. We also ordered the fajita combo beef and chicken which also came with rice and a small side of beans. We did have to order the guacamole separate but it came with chips very fresh chips and it was very good guacamole. He brought us out 3 different kids of salsas from mild to hot and warm corn tortillas. Food was great and accompanied by great service. Prices were also reasonable. I would recommend giving this place a try. One thing we did learn while being in Cancun was that beef is going to be higher priced because their climate is not hospitable for livestock so you will see much more chicken and pork on menus. Read moreMr. Habanero at Plaza Bonita offers an authentic and enjoyable Mexican dining experience. We had a fantastic time savoring traditional dishes while being serenaded by local musicians, which really added to the warm, vibrant atmosphere.
The food was excellent—we tried the mole, steak and pork tacos, chile relleno, and alambre. Each dish was full of bold, rich flavors and made with care. The mole was especially memorable, with a deep, complex sauce that paired beautifully with the meat. The tacos were perfectly seasoned, the chile relleno was cheesy and comforting, and the alambre was hearty and satisfying.
Between the delicious food, welcoming service, and festive vibe, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Mr. Habanero is a great stop for anyone looking to enjoy traditional Mexican cuisine in a fun,...
