My life partner and I have stayed here for two weeks and the location, Hotel, and most importantly, the staff have helped us to enjoy one of our better vacations. Our goal was to escape the cold weather/snow and to have Sun, Fun, and Beaches. Ikaro Hotel Suites exceeded our expectations. The guests we encountered in the Hotel were friendly and helpful. The staff from House Keeping, Maintenance, Front Desk and Management to a person made us feel welcome every day with inspirational smiles and readiness to assist when we needed help. We are very independent and flexible and found the perfect fit at Ikaro. We easily walked the 3 - 5 kilometers from the hotel to the first beach, playa Las Perlas and from there we could walk from beach to beach or return to Kukulkan and walk on the path or take a bus to additional beaches or destinations in the Zona Hotelera. The bus service is excellent .and very, very frquent. At the end of our stay we were on first name basis with our new found friends at Ikaro and so happy that we chose to stay here. The rates were very reasonable and as long as long as these circumstances ascribed above remain operative, we would gladly stay here again.||The TV is not flat screen but the number/variety of channels available and the swival stand for multiple view angles more than...
Read moreWe were currently in a sticky situation. Out flight was cancelled as we were trying to leave Cancun. It was late and the airport was closing so we had to hurry and find a hotel if not we were gonna be left stranded. If you ever find yourself in this situation, DO NOT go to the people outside of the airport as they will scam you. There are designated gentlemen in green vests that will help you inside the airport. Anyway, we didn’t know any better and we’re charged $68 per taxi (we had to take 2) to downtown Cancun where we were promised a cheap hotel room. A normal taxi ride for that distance is usually about $28 dollars but We decided to do that and ended up at this hotel. The woman working there was very helpful and so was the man. It’s definitely not a luxury hotel but we only needed to stay a night and didn’t have much of a choice. It’s okay but we were definitely overcharged because of the scammer outside of the hotel. This hotel is about $68/night and we were charged double that. The beds are hard, walls are thin, and it’s in a sketchy part of town. Just be careful when in Mexico and be prepared for a...
Read moreOwner/Operator took advantage of the fact that Americans were staying by charging more money (even though my wife is Peruvian). I compared by way of the pre-paid reservation, made by our Mexican friend, that they were unable to find initially: They charged me 1/3 more. There was no hot water for a good two hours, as the room's power is turned on when you arrive (hot water heater in room). The room is barely adequate for a one-night stay. If forced to compare, I'd rate it two steps below a Mom and Pop motel in the middle of nowhere in the U.S.A. Definitely NOT good if you have children, unless they're just arrived from a dual-airliner layover and are bone tired. There is an elevator, but it's broken. Otherwise, the rooms seem to be quiet (we did arrive late at night and left first thing on the morning). The one bright positive: The night manager - of his own accord - found the pre-existing reservation after a couple of hours and refunded our (second) payment. I won't stay here next time, and have let our friend know a couple of steps up would be a more suitable room next time we visit, since we have three...
