A unique and beautiful restaurant. My partner and I came here several months ago for drinks and found the place really special. Built on the lake, the restaurant and bar has an authentic and cozy vibe in a part of town that is otherwise quite loud and touristy.

Upon returning to Cancun this week we decided to check the place out for dinner, though we’re reticent due to some of the reviews on here. We took the plunge and were really glad we did. The food was exceptional, fresh and of a high standard, with excellent attention to detail. A small cup of fish broth came while we waited for the starter which was simply delicious. I had a grilled octopus tostada and my partner the tuna tartare. Both excellent. For entree we had the grilled octopus and marinated tuna. I happened to go for the spiciest thing on the menu, and so needed a few extra margaritas to cope, but it was stunningly good. The flavours of the sauce, quality of the meat and simple presentation made for a meal that felt very high quality.

I found the prices very reasonable and the service excellent. The staff are so friendly, attentive and helpful with their suggestions. The view is the best in Cancun. Regarding the bill there were none of the issues mentioned in other reviews, the bill clearly and correctly laid out our orders and given the amount of cocktails we had I felt this represented exceptional value.

Cancun is a wonderful place, but can feel quite full on at times. This restaurant is a wonderful antidote to that. A peaceful, beautiful, well run and expertly presented restaurant with a diverse menu for all tastes. Cannot recommend enough and will be back when I’m next here...

Loved sitting by the water. Food was good.

Service was great at the beginning but fell completely off at the end. Waited forever to get the bill and when it arrived, there was a drink we hadn’t ordered at all. All three margaritas were a price that didn’t match the menu. When I pointed it out, I was first told it was because that was the computers price and then told that they gave us the big version of the margarita even though we specifically pointed to the other ones on the menu. They would not change the bill because it’s what we consumed even though we had no idea. I feel like they tried to take advantage of us, and that’s what I don’t appreciate (overall, it was +200 pesos for the different margaritas and +230 pesos for the drink we didn’t order. They removed the 230 charge but wouldn’t correct the 200 charge).

My recommendation is to carefully...

Nice location on the lagoon, lovely lighting on this pier style restaurant.

Low quality and mostly flavorless food. We had the governor shrimp tacos, coconut shrimp and grilled shrimp.

Shrimp were heavily battered and way too sweet, governors shrimp tacos were very bland but okay, the grilled shrimp were fishy tasting and swimming in an overwhelming sauce which I asked to put on the side in case it's overbearing. We also ordered the muscles special with white wine sauce but it never showed up.

The only dish that tasted freshly made and was warm were the deep fried coconut shrimp, everything else came out cold or room temp.

We were excited to have a sharp waiter but he disappeared after we were read the specials and his poor english speaking replacement butchered the rest of our order/evening (too many things to list).

Do not waste...

Five reasons we would never return here… 1 - We didn’t know it was possible to overcook a fresh fish quite so badly… To leave it so saturated with fat and baked on the bone that it was difficult to remove… And the waiter was surprised we weren’t impressed! 2 - The waiter told us that the house (the owners of the restaurant) expect the waiters to provide 10% of the bill back to the owners before the waiter gets anything themselves 3 - We asked very specifically how much the fish would cost as we know fresh fish is sold by weight and can provide nasty surprises. He assured us between 700 and 720… But the bill charged us 860. 4 - We ordered a regular bottle of water and were charged £6.50. 5 - the table beside us were also very unhappy with their meal Don’t be a victim of tourist ripoffs… try somewhere else.

Hubby and I enjoyed a wonderful Anniversary lunch here today. The food was excellent and they made some changes to accommodate my allergies and cooking desires. They also gifted us a delicious chocolate cake for our Anniversary. Yonathan was our waiter and was very patient with my order. This is the second time we've came here to celebrate and they haven't disappointed us. Reading some of the other recent reviews, take it with a grain of salt as everywhere you go things change and people are becoming more demanding. We were treated great and also given a 10 percent discount because of our hotel stay at The Royal Sands.
