San Remo — Restaurant in Chetumal

I dined here with a professional chef who specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, and I grew up in an Italian area of the US.

I wish I had a nicer way to say this, but the food here was absolutely terrible, and the service was equally bad. We never received one of the entrees we ordered (no acknowledgement or apology even when we asked if it was coming and it was clear that it had been forgotten) and we left most of the other food less than half-eaten because it was so bland and unappealing.

My visit to San Remo in Chetumal was like going home to see my mom and brother in Italy. Laura (the restaurant owner) makes wonderful pasta and desserts. I suspect any dish you order would be just as delicious as the vegetarian lasagna I enjoyed. While sitting at a table outside on the covered patio surrounded by plants I dipped an almond biscotti into black coffee and ended my meal with a delicious crispy chocolate chip cookie. Cute little place to have dinner in Chetumal. The owner is Italian and lived in Africa before Mexico, so the place is very lovely decorated with cute things from all around the world. The food is great, we ordered the gnocchi and lasagna and we definitely recommend them both!

What we liked most, though, is that it felt like a friend has invited us to their house for dinner. What's better...
