Restaurante Taniperla — Restaurant in Chiapas

We stepped in without prior research. The welcome was genuine and the small entrees and dessert was a nice touch. The drinks were well priced and tasty.

However, I ordered a Margherita pizza and was incredibly disappointed. The pizza A) had no mozzarella B) had no basil and C) had no tomatoes, but rather arrived as a sharp cheddar pizza.

I thought my order was wrong, however when the table next to us got the same order and in the same fashion I figured this was a restaurant issue with understanding what a Margherita pizza actually is.

So good!! Fantastic live music on Friday’s and Saturday’s . We enjoyed a great local band playing Cuban music . Returned for a second night because we were all so impressed with this place. I ate the traditional quesadillas made with platano instead of corn ( you have the choice of corn or platano). Delicious salsas. Great fresh salads. The wood fired pizzas looked great . Awesome vegan and vegetarian options also. Service is so warm and informative. Really absolutely my favorite restaurant in San Cristobal. My only regret is that I found this place on my last couple days in San Cristobal. Supports local Mayan...

5 stars aren't enough for Restaurante Taniperla. The food is really great, tasty and perfectly balanced. The environment is lovely, and you will feel like home. Taniperla is not only a place where you can eat great food, but also a space where you can feel the vibes, the effort and swim in the history of Selva Lacandona, Chiapas. Restaurante Taniperla is a great example of amazing traditional food perfectly prepared and presented, ethnic space all surrounded by a beautiful environment. Thanks to José Manuel and the Team made by great people all from pueblos originarios. Taniperla is an amazing restaurant and an incredibile ethnic space, where you can eat, learn a live Selva Lacandona, Chiapas in a part of its essence.
