Food Poisoning

We came to this restaurant for dinner on Thursday a week and a half ago.

First of all, it’s important to mention that the food was very tasty, though very expensive comparing to the other restaurants in town.

Me and my wife ordered a steak each, and shared the spinach side dish. It’s important to mention that we both ate from the spinach and that we didn’t share any other food that day or the days before.

A few hours later we woke up in the middle of the night to throw up. This sickness continued for the next 48 hours with puking, diarrhea and intense weakness. We simply couldn’t move. Then one more week with general sickness due to crush of our immune system.

My wife and I both experienced the same thing, and we didn’t have any experience like that so far in Mexico.

I believe that the food poisoning we had was caused from the spinach dish in this restaurant since it’s the only thing we shared those days.

The worst thing was that when we told the restaurant owner about what happened, he didn’t even say he’s sorry, not to mention taking measures to prevent this from happening again. He didn’t even acknowledge his responsibility for our sickness. They also didn’t answer to our email and facebook message.

We also had a trip the next day that we had to miss (50 USD that were wasted). All in all it was a very expensive meal: 960 Peso for a meal that came out the wrong way. 1000 peso for the trip we missed. A whole week that was erased from our trip (unless you consider Netflix binging in bed as traveling).

First, I ordered a steak and the waiter tried to upsell me another steak without being able to explain why it was better. I immediately felt like I was being swindled. Losing my trust in either choice I opted for a plate of meat and cheese, which was fine, not great or terrible.

Later a cockroach came up to meet me on my table. It hid by the time the waiters came to see what was wrong, and even though someone at another table pointed it out too, they left, unconvinced anything was the matter. Finally the cockroach and waiter appeared at the same time and the waiter took care of it. I still paid full...

This was our treat night out. Service was superb and friendly. We had the steak dinner for 2. So much meat!! We couldn't finish it all and took some home for steak sandwiches the next day. Steak from Argentina had a different flavour than home (Canada). It is so flavourful and tender, and melts in your mouth. They don't season the meat which allows the flavour to shine through (they do provide salsa, salt, and pepper if you wish to add seasoning).
