Wife and I are currently staying at Hotel Ibis and was told by the taxi driver "If you are looking for something different then the cafeteria at your hotel, give La Nueva Central a try. Cheap prices, delicious seasoning, and unbeatable prices!"
Wise words! Wife had the Tacos Rancheros. I asked for the torta de milanesa. We both had Mexican Coca-Cola.
Wife's plate was well portioned. Three tortillas was supplied under the meat. Diced veggies to add a different taste. The server by the name of Hector V. Peinado was very attentive, always walking around, and even brought wife three more tortillas!
My torta was just the right size. Wife needed help finishing her plate. The torta was simple: Meat, refried pinto beans, guacamole, and mayonnaise. Delicious, filling, and cooked right.
The price I paid? For wife's plate, my plate, and two drinks was $190 pesos. Because of today's rate exchange the total in US dollars was $10.56. They placed the USD total at th bottom of the receipt! How convenient!
Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Something I'm noticing in a lot of places, stores, testaurants is they have full staff just waiting to assist. They are very attentive and demonstrate an eagerness to help. La Nueva Central was/is no...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. It has an interesting history and a cute, local feel, but....I ordered the beef and broccoli, which is basically what I order at any Chinese food establishment ( this place serves up Chinese and Mexican food) and the portion of rice you get is measly. The beef and broccoli was the worst version I have ever eaten. Its sauce was super liquidy and salty, and just tasted like soy sauce with water, no deeper richer flavors at all, which is what Chinese food is known for. The broccoli and other veggies in the dish were very obviously fresh and delicious however. Also, my husband ordered a burrito and the waiter didn't bring any salsa with it. (which we asked for) We kept waiting for the salsa to come to eat the burrito the way we wanted it, but we just gave up and ate it without. The waiter brought the salsa after my husband had finished about three quarters of his food. I felt like for the prices, the food portions are too small, and the flavors aren't that great either. I'll pass on this...
Read moreThe food is delicious compared to all of the surrounding eaters. It's like eating at grandma's house, homemade Mexican goodness! The location is a little hidden, but definitely worth the hunt. They serve a combination of typical steak and eggs, mini hotcakes, and your traditional Mexican breakfast, not to mention all the Pan Dulce (sweet bread), hearty Mexican soups, Seafood to order, and Chinese food too! And they make it Gluten free when asked. And an added bonus is that it's open 24 hours a day, Oh and the price... just Wow! We spent a third of the price of all of the near by restaurants. We ate there often to taste a couple of their many items...
