Each time we go to Ensenada we like to visit a different part of town. We were looking for a good fish restaurant and were directed to the fish market. It reminded me of our own fish market in San Pedro. We picked out a nice red snapper and a dozen large clams for a really good price. We asked them if they cooked the fish and they sent us across the walkway to a restaurant where they would willingly cook them for us. Everybody that works there was pleasant and cheerful and glad to see us. We told them how we wanted the fish and clams cooked and they took us back to our table which was in an open area. There Mariachis we're playing going from table to table. Everybody bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and happy and when we got the food it was delicious. We had a chance to talk to the owner's son in law. He goes back and forth to the states a lot and speaks perfect English. Read moreThis large colorful Fresh Fish Market is well worth a visit for anyone visiting Ensenada. There are over forty stalls selling a wide variety of fresh fish, lobster, clams, smoked fish, and shrimp, octopus, and many other creatures from the sea. The selection varies by season but everything is fresh. They are also famous for the fresh fish and shrimp they sell from, The Sea of Cortez, located about a hundred miles away, and the Pacific Ocean. The market is about a block from the ocean. There are a number of Fish Taco Stands adjunct to the market that are world famous for their fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and ceviche. It is conveniently located near a major tourist shopping and restaurant area near Calle Lazaro Cardenas and the wharf and waterfront. It would be an easy walk from the Ensenada Cruise Port. Make sure to include this in your trip planning. Highly...
Read moreWe went there for a tour sponsored by the cruise ship. There were probably 60 people on this tour, so I believe that they had made the food well in advance, maybe a couple of days ahead of time. The offerings are limited that are included on the excursion price, and the food that was offered wasn't what was advertised. Long story short, I got two shrimp tacos, the tacos were stuck to the parchment paper (first clue), the other option was a deep fried fish taco, which was also stuck to the parchment paper (second clue), sadly almost everyone who attended this excursion got sick the next day. Thought it was the notorious cruise ship petrie dish atmosphere, but the ones who were sick all shared this common experience. Avoid it, avoid anything in Ensenada as it's all a trap for Americans to spend money, see the sights, enjoy the culture, eat back...
