Fuego Beach Club Holbox — Restaurant in Isla Holbox

Considering the main roadways were completely flooded since the hurricane, I decided to eat here on 4 different occasions as my hotel was a 5 minute walk down the beach. The fish tacos I ordered were great and the drinks were refreshing! Unfortunately the waiters are incredibly inattentive and will walk right past you without checking in. I literally sat for an extra 20 minutes (EACH TIME) waiting for my check. It’s not like the venue is that big to begin with for such slow service.

Beware of coming during the evening, as the waiters will light two fire pits and the smoke WILL blow in the direction of the guests who are eating food. I thought I had smoked a pack of cigarettes by the time I was done with my meal. They light them every night (aesthetically pleasing) but not at all practical.

What can I say…. We arrived with two kids, 1 and 4 years old. They were playing in the water and we wanted have drinks first after a long walk with the kids. We were planning to have food after we finished our chilled drinks. We saw some familiar faces passing by, so we said hi and were about to order some food, but the waiter was so so rude. He said that we had to leave, because we were holding two tables- which was not the case at all- we had 1 table. Then he wanted to have 100 pesos per person extra because because we did not order food- we did not even had the chance to order yet. We wanted to pay by card, which we requested upfront and was possible, but he did not want us to pay by card anymore. It’s a very beautiful place, and could be something- if you like: order now eat fast, pay and leave place (no kids) this...

So our group of 5 shows up around 5pm with no expectations other than there's a vegetarian option for one of the members in our group. WOW what great quality of food. I wasn't thrilled about the price, and when my pizza arrived my first thought was "I get more food, for less money across the road". There's a reason I'm giving this group 5 stars, the quality is just that exceptional they make it well worth the price. As we're getting ready to go we order a nutella ice cream cake thing off the dessert menu. It was amazing. They were kind enough to get us spoons for the entire table, but WOW what a great tasting dessert! If we were at 4.5 stars before, this kicked us to a solid 5 out of 5.
