Ended up doing the Aquaworld day trip to Isla Mujeres, and had a couple hours to kill before going back to Cancun. Walked around for a bit, and sat by a park for a while, then decided to head down a side street, checking out stores, when we came across Los Mariscos. Decided to stop in for a drink, and sat out near the entrance with a couple cervezas and Margaritas, and watched people, and chatted with the friendly staff. Was busy during the day, and although we only had drinks, the food looked and smelled fantastic. Friendly staff, great prices, warm atmosphere. Will make this our regular place to stop on our next visits to the island.
UPDATE: Remember Mariscos De Humo a few years back? We do too, but the name changed to Guacamole De Humo. Same bright multi colored building, same location, same GREAT food & drinks. Stopped during the afternoon from out Aquaworld Boat Excursion to Isla Mujeres, and found our way back to Guacamole De Humo. Saw the sign outside advertising their Taco special, grabbed a couple Margaritas’ and a Coke, and dove into some of the best Taco’s in Mexico! Saw several mouthwatering seafood platters going to other tables, but craved the tacos today. Both food and drinks were amazing, along with the patio service, so we could people watch, and watch the huge big screen TV’s. Had some of the chips and salsa which get a 2 thumbs up also. Want it spicy or somewhat mild, they served us both. I sweat eating ketchup, so stayed with the mild. Topped off the afternoon with some of the best desert ever! Talked with the friendly staff and GM while having our food and drinks – Genuine friendly people! If you don’t go for the great food and drinks, go for the atmosphere, people watching from the patio, and friendly fast service. There are lots of places to eat on the island, but we prefer Guacamole de Humo since we have been there in the past – It only keeps getting better. See you...
Read moreGuacamole de Humo is hands down one of our favorite spots in Isla Mujeres! It was just a short walk from where we stayed, and we originally stopped in for lunch—what a great decision. We had the fish and shrimp tacos, and both were absolutely delicious. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the vibe was relaxed and welcoming.
Our server, Gil, was outstanding! So attentive and kind. He made us feel like more than just guests and even recommended we return later that evening for live music. We did, and it was nice indeed. Over the course of our 4-day trip, we ended up dining here 4 or 5 times.
On our final night, Gil happened to be off, but he actually stopped by the restaurant just to say goodbye to us, which speaks volumes about the kind of hospitality this place offers. That evening, we were served by Alejandro, who was also fantastic—friendly, and engaging.
Beyond the amazing service and food, the restaurant features live music, large TVs broadcasting sports, and a great drink selection. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy good company, and feel right at home on the island.
Highly recommend to anyone visiting Isla Mujeres. Guacamole de Humo truly made our trip even...
Read moreLet’s start by the good things: the atmosphere overall was quite enjoyable even though the place is mostly populated by Americans and non-Mexicans. Nothing against that but if you look for a non-touristic and authentic restaurant you should go somewhere else. Now for the bad part: My partner and I ordered 2 “margheritas” which literally tasted like a decent fruit juice. No alcohol whatsoever. Ridiculous. We ordered 2 fish tacos (3x2, Octocpus and fried fish) which would honestly fill one person but clearly not worth what they charge you for it. Overall a 70USD dinner for 6 tacos and 2 Margheritas (approx 11USD each = JOKE)
Recommendation: Avoid this place and perhaps if you have the chance to visit Playa del Carmen (Ay Taco and El Fogon), restaurants are much better than all the places we tried on the island for half the price. As for the tacos, the street tacos are always by far better than anything that this restaurant has to offer on their menu.
+1 for the mexican singer who gave a good performance.
-1 for the disgustingly rude attitude of one of the waiter (he’ll...
