First, I have to admit that the sceneary there is beautiful, but this is also the only good thing that I liked there ... The business there is a complete chaos. While I know that you need to pay for $15 usd to rent for a bench (for the whole day), be careful that these benches belong to different companies! For our case, we paid to rent a bench, but after one hour, another guy came and asked us to pay again! We were so surprised and then was told that this bench belonged to their company, not the company that we paid. Then, we found the first guy to ask to get the $15 back or assign us another bench, but he refused and insisted to keep the money. Well, the truth is that all these benches were put together (all the same color), and as a tourist who can differentiate which bench belongs to which company?! When you pay for it, make sure let the guy tell you which benches belong to their company.
In addition, you'd better have someone on the bench to take care of your property. We heard some tourist complain that their bags were lost.
In general, nice scenery but really many rude local people doing terrible and dishonest business. If you want to enjoy the beach, better places are the south side of the island or simply go to the hotel zone of Cancun where almost every hotel has wonderful beach scenery and...
Read morePlaya Centro has a similar feel to Playa Norte but with a busier, more public beach vibe. It’s still a great place to enjoy the soft sand and warm, clear water, but expect more vendors, more people, and a slightly less upscale feel compared to Playa Norte.
That said, we never felt unsafe—local police are present and keep an eye on things, which adds a level of comfort. What Playa Centro does have going for it is endless options for shopping, drinks, and food. If you want to grab a bite, have a drink, and enjoy a lively atmosphere, this is the spot.
It’s definitely a more social, high-energy beach, which makes it perfect if you’re looking for action. If you prefer a more relaxed, scenic experience, Playa Norte might be the better choice. Either way, Playa Centro is still worth a visit, especially if you’re looking to explore the local shops and bars right off the sand. Just don't leave your...
Read moreIt’s July 2022, there is no seaweed most of the beaches in playa del Carmen are full of seaweed. But this one is free of seaweed definitely make the trip to come out here. I didn’t see any free showers but I did see some that might have been paid for. You can also walk along the street and there’s lots of vendors and little stores that you can buy stuff and lots a little vendor selling corn, fruit, tacos you can literally walk to the speech so don’t bother getting a taxi from Ultramar or even renting the go carts if you’re going north you can literally walk it if you’re going to explore south of the island or even circle around then yeah maybe rent the golf cart. Most of the golf carts were charging us $70 for the full day so we just walked and it was like a 10 minute walk to...
