Boulangerie Central — Restaurant in Jalisco

Update Feb 2022 - I was back in Guadalajara and looking forward to visiting the boulangerie again. Unfortunately this time my experience was so so. I noticed a significant decline in service. For example I ordered coffee, but the server did not bring any sugar or spoon. Afterwards and I ordered the meal, they again did not bring any fork spoons or napkins. Each time I had to ask and wait. I ordered a second coffee and the server name of that I was using sugar and milk but the server did not bring either. By the time I waited after asking the server, the coffee had gone cold.

During my stay in the neighborhood I had only one opportunity for breakfast and this place was on top of my list! I went around 9AM and there was long waiting line as expected! As I was alone, I got seated ahead of others :) and got a table with one chair across from the bar.

The place was humming and the vibe was awesome. I was attended by English speaking lady who could have been the owner if not the manager of the place. I ordered omelette with Mexican twist and coffee. Everything from the service to quality of food was great!

Boulangerie Central is a spot highly recommended for its culinary offerings, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Situated conveniently, this bakery exudes a warm, inviting vibe, even as you join a queue—yes, there was a small wait due to its popularity, with about five tables ahead, but it was well worth it.

The food here is a true highlight, particularly the walnut bread, which was an unreal treat, easily the best I’ve ever had. Its rich flavors and perfect texture made it an instant favorite. While the service was generally efficient, there could be improvements, particularly in speeding up service and addressing the presence of flies, which detracted slightly from the experience.

Despite these minor issues, I’d still highly recommend Boulangerie Central. The quality of the dishes, especially the bakery items, is outstanding. It’s a place that anyone with a love for great baked goods and delightful meals should definitely check out when in the area. (12/26/24) We went to this place for the first time, not impressed. It is important to remember that this is actually an old house that was transformed into a restaurant and that explains the strange distribution of tables and restrooms. I am not a big fan of the rock pebbles in the backyard but that is a minor thing. I recommend to check your source for coffee which is very acid; I returned it and still got charged for it.

Pros: Great location, good service, some of the dishes are ok (e.g Croque Florentine), the decor is nice and the price is adequate
