We were in the Marina looking for some brunch, I am not much of a breakfast person but my wife is so we were going to try the waffle/pancake place there and I was just going to find something on the menu, when we got there the line was huge, and there wasn't anybody at D'z route 66. I pulled it up on yelp and it only had 2. 5 stars after reading the reviews and looking at the menu we decided to go in, and I am so glad we did. As soon as we sat down, the waiter noticed that our table was a little wobbly, we told him it was ok, and we didn't mind but he adjusted the legs quickly. As he gave us the menus, he mentioned that they were able to make some breakfast items that were not on their "summer" menu, that made my wife happy and she ordered a omelet while my kids ordered a hot dog, cheeseburger and I got the BBQ burger. My burger was awesome, the onion ring was crispy and the patty was very good and my fries were super crispy and very good, the hot dog looked so good, my daughter who considers herself a hot dog connoisseur said it was one of the best she has had, I believe her because it looked awesome. My wife waid her omelet was very good and they put some refried beans in a tortilla cup and it looked like lave pouring out. sure why this place isn't rated higher it should be, next time we are in PV we will 100% be eating there again. It didn't bother us that it was a American 50's style diner like a Mel's, it actually added to the kitschy vibe. Also you might see a crocodile while...
Read moreI have to agree with the review of Charles that was one week before mine. This was one of our go to places for the last year. We live in the Marina so we realize that things are a bit more expensive than a lot of other parts of Puerto Vallarta, but the prices went up about 33%. We spent with tip over 620 pesos for a salad and a burger plus tip. The two small waters were 55 pesos each. The same thing in OXXO was about 6 pesos. We normally never spent more than 400 pesos here. The food prices are now the equivalent of a diner in Los Angeles and we are not in Los Angeles. Yes, there is inflation, but the price increase FAR exceeds the rate of inflation. The quality of the food doesn't justify the price. It was fine before they updated their menu recently, now the prices are unreasonable. Unfortunately, two customers (us) will now rarely return. The only reason why I didn't give a one star is because the service was excellent from our waiter. We gave a good tip, so I feel bad that he will get less tips due to no fault of his own. Maybe the rent drastically increased, who knows. What I do know is there are more than enough places we can drive to that have fantastic prices for...
Read moreI really like a lot about this place. It has 50s diner decor, that's super bright and fun, and seems to be very popular with the older, boomer crowd. I am older and a boomer as well. I've been there the last two Tuesdays, first for the Elvis impersonator, and then the next Tuesday, the same singer did old time rock songs, Sea of Love, Mustang Sally, Rock Around the Clock, songs from the 50s and early 60s. I believe that it's a steady program thru the winter but check it out for yourself, to be sure.
What I experienced with the food was less than ideal. Our tortilla chips were stale, the portion of guacamole with the chips was very small, and my ceasar salad with chicken had very tough chicken and soggy lettuce. The great abundance and low cost of food here in Puerto Vallarta, leads me to plead with the management, if it's old, please toss it, and please don't skimp on the guac. The service was fantastic both times I visited. And, as other reviewers have noted, it's pretty expensive.
This is one of the busiest restaurants along the marina, and I think, the live music offered is enjoyed greatly by a crowd that is ready to sit, enjoy, and...
