Absolutely phenomenal place. Me and my brother had arepas for the first time here. He had the top sirloin arepa, and I had the shrimp and octopus arepa. I was surprised at first by the careful plating of dishes, which I see for the first time in Puerto Vallarta. Then, I was surprised by the combination of flavours in the dish, they were so well picked that I did not even want to try it with any salsas on the side (which were all good, but the avocado-garlic one was the best). I found myself sitting, swearing, and calling the chef names under my breath, because such levels of beautiful artistry and attention for a humble arepa are almost sadistic and should be illegal. My brother breathed in his arepa in seconds, I barely snatched a piece of his top sirloin meat to try. It was even more delicious than my filling, the salty cheese provided an ideal pairing with the meat, and they were cooked on the grill to perfection with a nice smoky flavour. It is worth traveling to even if you live in Nuevo Vallarta or Zona Romantica, this is a rare experience to be had in a food establishment. It is worth mentioning that there are many awards for the chef inside, and I can see he rightfully deserves...
Read moreMy family has traveled to Puerto Vallarta two times and they want to eat the Patacon Pollo at Hola Arepas EVERY DAY! We love the food here so much. The food is for people who enjoy a lot of flavor and are true gourmands as well as those who are health conscious but want something tasty. We are gluten free and the food served is gluten free. There are vegan and vegetarian options for those who like those. I was in PV for 2 months for Lyme treatment and this was by far my favorite place to eat lunch between treatments. I cannot say enough good things about the place. The husband wife owners are attentive and perfectionists. The restaurant is spotless. It is way better than the restraints next door!!!!! Hola Atepas is my favorite restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. The food is gluten free bursting with flavor and simply delicious. The owners run an impeccably clean restaurant. I love the dishes with fried plantain filled with chicken and other ingredients. The avocado garlic cream sauce is scrumptious and I’d gladly drink it plain. . The food is good for those who have a lot of food restrictions and this place provided fresh low histamine foods which...
Read moreWhat an amazing find Hola Arepas was. I had hired a car for a weekend break, and somewhat fortuitously came across the restaurant when exploring further afield for food options. As a vegan, the selection in PV is decent, but not enormous, and the options here felt like a whole new cuisine has been found.
A lovely family restaurant ran with love and care, with low prices is always terrific to see. Everyone involved were hospitable and friendly, spoke excellent English (100x better than my Spanish), and were understanding of my dietary restrictions.
Even better, they also do catering, and provided an amazing spread of vegan and gluten-free food for a birthday party. Everyone was effusive for the surprise food, no matter their diet.
My only regret was finding them in my final weeks living in PV as I'd be a regular if I found...
