As you can tell from all the other reviews, this place is special. Authentic old school food immaculately prepared. Everything is thoughtfully done here; nice tables, chairs, plates, serving containers, etc. The portions are large and the prices low. Our family of 4 ate a wonderful large meal in a great place with 4 drinks and 2 sodas. Our bill was only $1200 (Mexican) - or $60 US.

This place is the definition of hidden gem, well sort of. Haha! It is just a block or two down from popular Versailles culinary spots, but feels like an discovery once you get your food. I had the single grill plate where you choose a meat and basically make your own unique tacos with grilled cactus, onion and avocado. He made the sausage on the spot because he didn’t have any and I highly suggest it. At time of writing a mere $100 pesos so I tipped well. I absolutely love coming to El Chinelo- I’ve been here several times and each time the food and service is fabulous. It’s a small, family owned business with a great story of how they came to own this restaurant. Versailles is FILLED with amazing restaurants and this is definitely worth the stop… I highly recommend the cecina.
