I Latina — Restaurant in Jalisco

We were in Guadalajara for one night and wanted an outstanding Mexican food restaurant and chose this one based on it's ratings. We should of looked at their menu!

First of all, it has no ambiance, it is brightly lit inside and hanging light fixtures glare at you the entire time.

There was no "Mexican food" on the menu we saw, it was more "international". My husband had the duck confit which he said tasted okay. I ordered Linguini with shrimp, tomatoes and marscapone - what I got was a plate of underseasoned pasta with a few overcooked shrimp in a creamy tomato sauce that was overpowered by the marscapone. It was marginal at best. Appetizer was a slice of untoasted bread with the wimpiest tomatoes on it, and unseasoned.

Overall, we didn't enjoy the meal or the ambiance. It was very busy, full of people who were there to see and be seen. Our conclusion is that it's a restaurant for Mexicans who want something besides Mexican food.

My wife and I just had one of the best dinners of the year. We had been here before but I don't remember it being as good as it was this time. The service is excellent and well educated on the menu and ingredients. Throughout the whole meal I kept commenting on how good the music was.

The food, the food. I think I am going to start with dessert. My wife said only one dessert but I insisted, jaja We got the Dulce de Colo and the Choco Banana ice cream. I want to go back just for dessert. We LOVED the curry shrimp and the beef rib. The cocktails were great, the appetizers were good. I can't say enough about how much I loved this place.

I have been traveling to Guadalajara every few months to visit my girlfriend (now fiancé) for about four years now. Given the distance, we try to get in as many "date nights" as we can in the time I'm here. I Latina is easily as good as or better than any dining experience we've had in Guadalajara. In a city that offers so many excellent dining experiences, I Latina manages to stand out. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was excellent. The wait staff, also excellent, managed to ride that very fine line between friendly and professional. I cannot say enough.
