Lobo de Mar . Mariscos — Restaurant in Jalisco

I am a third generation commercial Alaska fishermen of Norwegian heritage and was raised in Seattle Washington, I have eaten fresh fish all my life and am very particular. I am skeptical about restaurants and stores, which are not on the coast, and offer fresh fish. I generally avoid ordering it. However, upon the suggestion of a friend, I tried Lobo de Mar and was very, very happy. I ordered some fish tacos, my wife had the seared ahi. Both dishes were exceptional. We were staying in Ajijic for a couple of weeks and weren’t able to return, but we’ll be back in June for a 5 month stay and Lobo will surely be a favored restaurant on a frequent rotation. I live in Palm Springs California, a town with many good restaurants, but I have not found a place there that tops Lobo de Mar, or even comes close. P.S. I would just like to say that I am very impressed with this restaurant! The environment is very calming,relaxing and peaceful. I took my son here to get a quick bite, I had ordered the portobello mushroom burger with a side of rice (was absolutely tasty, full of flavor and not too filling)! They have nice music playing and the waiters are on it👍🏻 I recommend this place to anyone, once we finished I got to relax and read my book in peace, very very soothing to be. I would like to thank you the owner of this restaurant for having such a great space and awesome food selections! Your doing wonderful we will be back...

Decent food, nice atmosphere, prices on the high side.

Set back from the main road, a few blocks east of Ajijic Plaza, Lobo de Mar is a charming little courtyard restaurant with bagfuls of atmosphere.

The food here is of good quality and presented nicely, and service is ok. But for all this, the prices are somewhat on the high side when compared to other local restaurants of this type and the menu is limited, to say the least.

Overall, I can think of a handful of places around here I'm more likely to go when looking for lunch in this...
