Best sushi restaurant lakeside, and maybe the best restaurant overall! Chef Allan prepares his cuisine with professionalism, pride, and artistry. Although he has a myriad of Japonese dishes, udon, teriaki, teppanyaki, gyoza, and so much more... I go for the sushi. Freshest, tastiest, beautifulest. Well maybe the most beautiful presentation imaginable. Try it. Even Mikey likes it! The photo below is a takeout order I plated at home. If it was served at Masayume, it would be much more presentable.

Fun staff and owner, interesting to talk to. The food is prepared well with appearance and taste in mind. The sushi is tasty and fresh, and the octopus nigiri was fun but not that great, and the vegetable tempura had too many bell peppers and not enough veggies with substance. Everything else was fabulous, sushi, soup, and salmon.

Our first attempt at sushi in Ajijic and it was very good! My husband had nigiri and I had the Omega 3 roll and a salmon skin temaki roll. My favorite part was their welcome host, Uni. He didn’t say a lot but he kept us more than entertained throwing the ball for him while we waited on our sushi! 🐶🩷

I may have ordered the wrong things....the tempura was not what I expected. Rather than the traditional battered vegetables I got a plate full of stringy vegetable fritters with hardly any batter, it was weird & not tempura! The Yakitori chicken was tough & tasteless. I saw the kitchen extensively using a microwave & could not figure out why...my nuked chicken confirmed it. You get 3 pieces for $90p served with slivers of cucumber. You have to built the rolls, so you order Californian at $68p and then add $35p for salmon or tuna. I found prices were high, portions small for what you pay. The tables are set traditionally but blasting Mexican pop music was a vibe killer. Service was poor, the waitress spent more time outside watching traffic then bringing refills. Needless to say I...

We had the place to ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I had the spider roll and a tuna roll. My husband had dumplings and a California roll with surimi. The waitress suggested changing the basic surimi to a better grade - well worth it! The rolls were perfectly bite-sized. Pickled jalapeños make an interesting topper for a bite of sushi. I used a lot of the little side dish. Best pickled ginger I've ever had. Dumplings were amazing. And the presentation of the entire dinner was beautiful. We tried the 2 deserts. I had the tempura ice cream, which was good. But after tasting my husband's coffee jello with ice cream, that's what I'll be ordering in the future. A bit more expensive than your average dinner out in Ajijic, but well worth it for quality,...

Great sushi with creative rolls and a fantastic chef. This place even carries traditonal Japanese bevarages such as sake and Sapporo . Because of its small size (about 3-4 tables), my food came out quickly and I was well taken care of. All fish was fresh and all rolls were presented in style! Overall a wonderfull place that is equal to even the quality Japanese restaurants back home in America. If you are looking for a nice change of pace while visiting the Lake Chapala area, this is defiantly a place to try out.

...I must also add that this is not necessarily a budget restaurant, running me about 500-600 pesos for three rolls of sushi and a hot sake. Despite this factor I was fully satisfied with...
