What a great find! This restaurant is still new on the vibrant Versalles scene, but it already has all the elements to become a standout. It’s not cheap—but it’s absolutely worth every peso.
I echo what others have said: we were four and had a fantastic evening. The vibe is welcoming and full of potential. There’s something really special about this place—the owner is Argentine, but the menu is unapologetically Mexican, and refreshingly not just another Argentine grill (thankfully, because Vallarta has plenty of those).
I started with a creative take on frijoles charros soup—rich, flavorful, and comforting. Then came the cochinita pibil, served not shredded, but in tender chunks with fresh tortillas. Honestly, I could’ve made a meal just out of the salsas and chips—so good. The rest of the table loved their meals, especially the comforting sides like mac and cheese, which added a playful, satisfying touch.
And even the name—Miguela—caught our attention. Who is Miguela? By the time we were a few drinks in, we finally asked. The answer was perfect: “She’s a combination of every kitchen. In Mexico, it’s a woman who has touched our lives through her food.” Honestly, that is exactly the experience—warm, soulful, and hard to explain, but you feel it.
We arrived early and had great conversation in a relaxed setting, but as we left, a DJ was setting up and a younger crowd was rolling in. It’s clear this place has layers—early evenings are perfect for dinner and catching up, and later, it shifts into something livelier.
It’s definitely Mexican, definitely fusion—but not in a way that tries too hard. There’s an intriguing subtlety to it that made me want to come back and explore more of the menu.
And the service? Truly excellent. The owner was present, attentive, and passionate about what he’s building. Is it running like a well-oiled machine yet? Maybe not—but that’s part of the charm. You get the sense you’re catching a future favorite just as it’s finding its rhythm.
If you’re looking for bold, unique flavors and a place that’s going somewhere exciting, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. Honestly, it’s hard to explain—you just have to go and try it. We’ll...
Read moreI usually take my time writing restaurant reviews, but for Miguela I didn't want to waste a minute getting the word out about how amazing this place is. We arrived here 2 nights ago for the first time and immediately felt like "regulars". We were greeting with smiles, and you will immediately feel the cool vibe going on here. The entire restaurant has a big city feel to it - Miguela could easily be located in Guadalajara or CDMX. The menu is different than any other place we have found in PV - Miguela is definitely trying to stand out from the crowd. My wife's Cochinita Pibil was the best she has ever had (including in the Yucatán area), and the craft cocktails are perfect. Service is attentive yet relaxed, you can take your time and soak in the atmosphere. PV, and especially the Versalles area, needs a restaurant like this. I hope that locals will support independent restaurants like Miguela that are trying to up the game in PV and reclaim our beach town as a go-to food...
Read moreThis was one of my best food experiences while in Puerto Vallarta. This is in the neighborhood of Versalles. It happened to be about 8 minutes from our Hotel via Uber. First off, the flour chicharrón with three salsas were delicious! I love spicy food, (I am originally from Mexico City but grew up in Chicago). It was the first time l had Aguachiles, the shrimp was so fresh and the salsa was spicy but delicious. I had a mezcal tasting and the sous chef gave an overview of each bottle of mezcal. I learned that Mezcal is my drink! Seriously, a wonderful experience. My favorite dish is Mole so we went with the chef's recommendation of the Mancha Manteles with the pork (braised for 24 hours). My husband and I absolutely loved it!! To end this delicious meal we had the chocolate tamale that was fluffy and warm. Very yummy! I recommend this restaurant whether you are a tourist like me or a local, you...
