Las Gaviotos is not, in our experience, what many of the reviews say. We love it there! Maybe they’ve read the reviews and taken action. We’ve eaten there twice now. One time sitting at a table and one time sitting in the lounge chairs. They were nothing but helpful, many of the waitstaff asking if we need anything and if all was good. Drinks? Food? Umbrella or no umbrella? Our server Erick was darling, helpful and gave us prompt, good service. Very attentive. We each ordered different food each day. The Mexican Food dish, coconut shrimp, shrimp avocado salad, and guacamole, and a few drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic). The food was just right and delicious! When they brought the bill both times they went over our bill exactly as our ordered and asked if that was okay to pay. They didn’t ask for any amount of tip and their billing was completely accurate. We will most definitely go back here again before the end of our trip!! Thanks for the great food and service...

I wish I could give 0 stars for this place. I came alone and was treated horribly. There was a group of 3 couples next to me and they were taken care of as if they were gold. My order was extremely slow, and when I ordered food it never came. It became really obvious that if they didn't see a potential for mounds of cash that you were ignored. Two waiters also told me different prices for an item when I said I was leaving because I was ignored. I cancelled my food order as it was obvious it would never come. The waiter lied and said they were very busy which was not true. There were maybe 5 or six tables that had customers. This restaurant is the reason that people get turned off by an area. I also felt unsafe as when I said I was cancelling my order a waiter came quite close to me to tell me what I did owe. As a single woman this is definitely not the place to go. I have travelled extensively and I am a travel journalist....

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO GET SICK. Me and my family stopped by to eat here on a day trip to mismaloya beach. At first sight, this wouldn’t even classify as a restaurant. Wild dogs and cats everywhere while you eat your food. The kitchen doesn’t even look like a kitchen, just a dirty area with no sense of cleanliness. We all ordered regular dishes, tacos and nachos… The next morning I got severe food poisoning that sent me to the hospital and the rest of my family had really bad symptoms but didn’t need to go to the hospital. This sickness wasted about 4-5 whole days of our vacation as it took some time for us to recover. Super upsetting. Looking back at the restaurant now, it was quite sketchy and I guess we were just oblivious....

Bad experience overall, drinking my first beer and I ordered the whole red snapper from the menu with my server Andres, he comes back to inform me that they only have large ones of a kilo or more, I told him that was to much food for me, told him to give me a minute and I would order something else... He told me that if I did not order now he would charge me a rental fee for the chair and table, wow!!!! I paid for my beer and left disappointed took a picture to show that in the slow season there was not 10 people in the restaurant that holds well over 100 people... I had full intentions of spending 500 plus pesos and I never tip less than 25% ... If you don't want to be disappointed you should avoid this place for sure!!!!

The atmosphere is incredible and so is the food. Service is excellent. We had Ophelia and she spoke good English and was very outstanding. We had a shrimp salad, guacamole, and 4 Pacificos. The salad was delicious and the guacamole muy sabor. She didn’t show us the bill and said it was 477 pesos. Maybe a little expensive and I left feeling a little taken. Make sure and check your bill. Otherwise great time! Saludos

So we were on our way to a smaller beach and met Samuel on our bus ride. He was practicing his English and I was practicingy Spanish-win win. He said he worked at this restaurant and said the beach here was much nicer and did not have stones like the other one. We followed him amd he was great. Took us to the restaurant and served us really well. Food was really good. We had a couple shrimp diahes (coconut and garlic).
