Read moremy wife and I went here last week March 17-24, 2024. We have travelled to various spots in Mexico over the last 25 years 4 times to the PV area but never south of PV and always before we have stayed at all inclusive resorts. Mismaloya is a very quiet village with no night clubs etc. Highlights include: From the hotel, beach is a 5-10 minute walk past 2 pharmacia, several taco/burger stands, the bus stop, cash machines, cab stand, and a couple of the typical Mexican market stands. The beach is nice, a fishing village so lots of boats moored offshore. Many beach restaurants with good food and drinks. Lots of beach vendors but none pushed once we answered "no gracias". I mentioned the cash machine, on our last night, some brilliant person shoved gum into the slot so it wouldn't register your card, tough seeing as some of the restaurants and all of the small stands are peso only. Bus stop? yep 5 minutes from the hotel, 10 pesos gets you a half hour ride into PV!!. Leaving the hotel the other direction you find numerous restaurants, a couple bodega style stores to buy fruit and veggies etc, the OXXO right next door has liquor, snacks and staples like milk and cheese. 2 tequila tasting spots are up the road as well. In short, everything you could need is within a 5-10 minute walk!!!||The hotel itself: Small (60 rooms) and quiet, all rooms face the pools/courtyard. We had room 215 all the "_15" rooms are considered "honeymoon suites" so are a bit larger but the best part is the corner location! garden to the left, stairs to the right, mountain wall to the rear, sooo quiet! Plus, the corner location on the upper floors provide a wonderful breeze! It was 30 degrees every day but we rarely had the AC on except while napping in the afternoon. As previous reviews have said, the kitchen was missing some necessities - no dishcloth, no face cloth, no paring/chefs knife, one bowl, one pot, no microwave. The igniter on the stove top didn't work and there was no toaster or coffee maker (found out on our last day we could request a coffee maker). ||Pool was wonderful and never crowded at all. plenty of loungers and tables. ||Staff: Blanca kept the room clean and well stocked, all the rest were seen periodically but we never had any reason to call on them. The grounds and pool were always kept spotless. Reception was pleasant, check in easy, check out easier.||Restaurant: we had breakfast once but realized we could do the same thing in our room. OXXO had coffee plus there was a coffee place close to the beach (across a bridge). There was rarely anyone in the restaurant for other meals and we never went. |There's ice in the restaurant they'll fill your ice bucket for you||Highlights: sitting outside our room, watching kids play in the pool, playing music, reading books, feeling the breeze, listening to the many birds, and petting the dog that befriended me. ||Loved every minute of our stay. I may never do all inclusive, large resorts again!!||Oh ya, the bed was small and the mattress was old and HARD. If we were staying longer that would have been a big issue. They might have had pillow toppers on request, we...
This is a charming rustic older Hotel. If you're used to staying at higher-end resorts or condos and our particular about things I would not recommend this hotel. If you are open-minded and enjoy a more rustic authentic vibe this is your place. I was going to give it a four star. Only due to the kitchenettes are a little lacking. And the beds were hard and not overly comfortable. But I had to give it a 5 as I had nothing bad to say about the place. It really grows on you. A lot of people staying here stay here for weeks or months at a time. It almost has a home vibe. The on-site restaurant was good. There are lots of reasonable restaurants within walking distance. The beach is very nice. And a River runs across the street. I paid extra for the breakfast plan as it was convenient. It was good. Be sure to check Rico's Taco stand up the street, very good. It was relatively quiet and Vibe was laid back. Pool not heated chilly but nice. I liked The rustic vibe. We previously were at the barcelo which was excellent. So when we first checked in here we struggled a little bit as they are two very different places. The bercelo is much more luxurious. But also much more expensive. I did find that it was much quieter at the iguana. The Wi-Fi is weak in the room but can get easily anywhere else in the hotel. They had a nice breeze on The veranda so we often sat out there with drink in hand to get Wi-Fi. The place was clean. Was a little dated. The showers were always hot lots of pressure and the air conditioners worked well. Wish they had a microwave but not a deal-breaker. Honestly to eat out in the area was cheap enough to eat out that you wouldn't need a lot of groceries unless you were there for a...
Read moreThe kitchen Staff were great and the buffet was good. The hotel doesn't have a working bar but you could order drinks from the kitchen after 2 pm. The pool was below average and the so-called hot tub was just reservoir for cold water. The check-in process was pretty easy until we got to the room. The front door nob didn't lock and we left to go into the city thinking the door was locked but it turns out just a turn of the knob and the room door was open. After complaining to the front desk we learned that there was no onsite maintenance guy so I had to fix the door knob myself. The front desk never offered any concessions so I recommended we get a wrist band for the buffet breakfast. We got a wristband but we found out it was only for one breakfast. Wasn't a very big thank you to me for doing the repair they should've done. Our room showerhead sprayed water all over the bathroom and the shower door was leaking at the base so with our showers came flooding of the bathroom floor the front desk and they stated that they would send a manager to discuss all of our issues but nobody came-not even available on checkout day. We had gone to bed after a long day out and about 0300 hours (early morning) a large family had returned from a night out and was at the pool and outside of our door being beyond loud and crazy. They were allowed to be out their for hours and woke us out of our sleep until a neighbor told them to quiet down. This was not a great experience. In addition our refrigerator had an opened 2 liter soda sitting in it. Our second room had an a/c unit that smelled like molded so we shut it off...
