Café Alameda — Restaurant in Mexico City

AWFUL experience!

I'm really amazed at how many good reviews this place has - I don't know if it was a new staff or such, but we had the worst experience - let me share the points:

I had to go and fetch the waiter to take our order after 10 minutes of waiting without response: TWICE.

When he finally arrived, the waiter was very slow and wasn't paying any attention at all: we had to repeat our order FOUR times for him to get it right

Yes, he didn't actually get it right! - he brought beverages that we didn't ask for, and didn't get ours even after we did the correction - we were almost leaving when they brought the orange drinks, and they brought it spring, not still water as requested

they took forever for what the order was, and they just had three tables! One of them was a gentle lady who asked for napkins so many times that she finally stood up and got them herself - she kindly shared some with us and complained about the service

When they brought the plates, they were on top of each other, which means cross-contaminated food and bad hygiene practices

We asked for molletes and three chapatas - when delivered they didn't know which one was which and didn't know what to do

About the food... while the beverages are exquisite (the shake is a winner), I'd run away from the chapatas (which aren't made with chapata bread, it's just a very small baguette) and are quite small and bland for the price. Molletes were fine, though a little expensive for what they actually were.

What is the worst part? We have been there before twice and got decent service, but this time we brought a couple of friends from Portugal who were shocked by the awful service!! You guys made me look like an 1d10t to recommend such a place!! Thanks for making me look bad!! :(

Stick to beverages - it's a nice place, but the atmosphere is kind of meh if you have been around the area for a while but it is fun to drink coffee while watching elders and youngsters dance danzón.

Consider other options if you're hungry, there are many fine places around that deserve more attention than this one - after all, it's a coffee bar, not a restaurant, so...

Vengo regularmente a este café y dejo una calificación baja por 3 razones que se han vuelto recurrentes:

La comida no es buena, en realidad he dado varias oportunidades y siguen decepcionando. Los sandwiches pobres en porciones, enchiladas, chilaquiles, hamburguesas, todo el menú en general si está para decepcionar calidad media hacia abajo.

El servicio, el servicio en general no era malo hasta que me tocó una chica que ha atendido varias veces poca actitud de servicio, le tengo que pedir todo cubiertos, servilletas, tiempo demasiado tardado de orden aunque no tengan mucha gente y finalmente la cuenta al cerrar la cuenta pago tarjeta 10% siempre "hace mal" el cálculo termina agregando más del 10% hasta 15% convenientemente cuando ni el servicio ni la comida honestamente fueron buenos.

El ambiente. Estás siendo constantemente abordado por vendedores de la calle, homeless y músicos que muchos contribuyen más a contaminación auditiva por tocar a todo volumen en lugar de generar un ambiente agradable. He intentado tomar café mientras tomaba unas llamadas del trabajo fue simplemente imposible y tuve que retirarme levantarme e ir a tomar llamada lejos de mi mesa por los músicos que nadie pidió y el restaurante tampoco hacen nada para pedirles toquen en un volumen razonable.

Dejo de intentar darle más oportunidades al café no cumplió mis expectativas además de que existen varias opciones más económicas incluso o del rango del precio donde puedo estar más agusto, con alimentos de mejor calidad y ambiente...

Tengo más de 20 años en la colonia y nunca había ido a ese lugar.

Lo que más me sorprendió fue lo asqueroso que tienen el baño, ni en las gasolineras de la carretera se atrevieron a tanto, al momento de ir al baño está la cocina y también es sucia sin nada de higiene ni aseo en esa área, ahora entiendo las cucarachas de otro comentario, gracias a Dios ese día no me tocaron.

Lugar sobrevalorado para la suciedad que tienen, neta que asco, nada les cuesta arreglar el baño y la cocina pero yo no se si les importa a los dueños y a la gente de todos modos seguirán yendo. 🤷.

Con respecto al servicio solo hay 2 meseros y lentos al pedirles algo, ya que tienen muchas mesas.

Me dieron mi tarro roto de una esquina ya no quise pedir cambio capaz que le echan algo. La comida es buena y el precio es accesible. Lastima q por detalles no vuelva a ir.

P.D. La foto del baño se las debo ya que fui sin celular y ni loca regresaba solo por tomar una foto a ese asqueroso baño.
