I really wanted to love this hotel. But a few things kept that from happening. Here's the summary:||||+ Great location. Not on Reforma, but on the Rapid Bus line that gets you there in just a few minutes. This is clean and efficient. Also sits above a mall, with supermarket and is adjacent to a giant Wal-Mart. The hotel is on the freeway to the airport. ||||+ Very clean. The maids were friendly and hard working. The place is spotless and clean!||||+ Quiet. I was on the top floor and heard zero noise from neighbors or the street. ||||+ Price. The rate was excellent as a frequent guest of Fiesta Rewards. ||||(-) The room is bare bones. There is no refrigerator (so no storage for the supermarket in the mall). Ice, glasses, cups, are all on request and must be delivered.||||(-) Major problems with the air conditioning. The window does not open, so you must rely on A/C 100%. The problem is that the central air conditioner will not get cold. It only gets cool. I had to sleep on top of the bed, and the hotel engineer would not fix it. Even if it is cool at night, you will be warm since you can't open the window and the hotel A/C is limited. The hotel should run more chilling...
Read moreHotel itself is located far enough from the noise of the central Mexico yet easy to connect via multiple metro stations nearby . Walking into Zocalo took 45 mins ( felt safe). Hotel is business like property - very well equipped ( aircon , safe , WiFi , coffee maker) and adjacent to the mall. Monse in Reception is so lovely and helpful - a genuine soul who really wanted us to enjoy the day of the dead celebrations and offered a lot of advice - thank you . ||But the breakfast buffet is simply not adequate - hot items just sit there for ages and dry out . They do have a station where they make freshly made omelettes but the rest of breakfast seems just poor quality . Even fruit is hard to eat . Anything remotely nice like French toast is available from a separate menu for an extra even though breakfast is included. No real butter to have with bread - cheap margarine which tastes horrible. Staff working in the restaurant are mostly unfriendly. This is the only let down of the hotel - it feels like it is very much the after thought . There is a lovely bakery next to the entrance of the hotel if you don’t have...
Read moreFirst of all, the place is clean and our waiter “Ivan” was awesome! He spoke little English but used his phone to translate. GREAT waiter, he was nice, polite, and attentive! We ate breakfast every morning at the hotel. Be sure to ask for Ivan👏🏼 Not so good.....We arrived in Mexico early and obviously the rooms were not ready. They were nice to keep our suitcases and was told to come back between 2-3pm. A bus load arrived just a few minutes when we came back to check in and we were informed our rooms are not ready when in fact, they gave our rooms away. Needless to say, we were aggravated. The woman manager stated that the group were “no show” but they paid. Nonsense!!! They need to change their hotel policy. If not mistaken, no show you lose your reservation and payment. We were persistent and they somehow found three rooms that we reserved and paid for online. I am giving it 4 star because of the check...
