I wasn't going to leave a bad review since it's Christmas and they showed up for work on a holiday. But I've just read other reviews that are similar to my experience on other dates, so here I go:
I booked through OpenTable weeks ago. Brought my parents on a trip to CDMX for Xmas and this was our fancy dinner plan. We arrive on time, there's absolutely nobody to talk to or check in. We waited 20 minutes as a waiter ran from table to table, ignoring us and when we said hello, he cut us off rudely implying he was busy. By now, other guests were arriving and waiting in line behind us, asking us questions and we could only say that we didn't know what was happening.
At some point, someone tells the manager and/or chef that there's a line outside, so he comes out and asks who had a reservation and who was there first. No checking the reservation? He didn't even ask for my name!
We get shown to a table and are told that he recommended the Christmas special for $1700, which I had seen but it was too much food for me and my parents and I asked if I could order from the menu. He wasn't pleased but said yes.
Mom asked if they were busy or understaffed, they said the chef had been in a mood since brunch and it had been like that all day. (Ok???)
He brought the menu and told us the octopus, the burger, the foie gras, the risotto and other things were out. He didn't even give us time to absorb what was available vs not, but seemed we were very limited in our options.
Talked to my parents and we left. There was a vibe from the very beginning that this night was going to end in a disaster. We took an Uber to a taco restaurant and we had a great time.
Such a shame that our Christmas dinner was ruined but it was going to be much worse...
Read moreWe initially intended to simply explore the tree-lined streets, their calming presence guiding our walk, but fate had other plans. A chance encounter led us to Cedron, and what a fortuitous discovery it was! From the moment we stepped inside, we were met with exceptional service. Our waiter, Oscar, skillfully navigated any language barrier, ensuring our experience was seamless and attentive. The cappuccino truly deserves a standing ovation. Creamy perfection with a robust coffee flavor dancing on the froth's surface, it was the perfect pick-me-up. Next came the showstopper: French toast adorned with cinnamon sugar and accompanied by homemade cream and jam. Each bite was an explosion of textures and flavors, easily earning its place as one of the best we've ever had. For those seeking a lighter option, the muesli did not disappoint. Served with yogurt or, as we opted for, cold milk, it was a symphony of fresh fruits and wholesome oats. Every spoonful was a delightful balance of sweetness and health. This quaint yet sophisticated cafe offers not only delicious food but an ambiance that complements it perfectly. If you find yourself in the area, don't just walk by - step into Cedron and prepare to...
Read moreI had a cocktail and ordered the Thanksgiving special, with a bottle of wine. The bread was excellent, the food was fine, the waiter was friendly. I had read in the website that the chef personally comes around to greet his guests so I had that expectation in the back of my mind. It never happened. At first I thought he was just busy(even though the restaurant only had guests in about 4 tables), but then I started noticing how he was so nice to greet and help a white doctor that came in. Later, another white american came in and the chef went out of his way to talk to them, explain the menu, and practically served as their personal waiter. I intently looked at the chef and the most I got was a "hola" while he walked away. Needless to say I felt discriminated against, and this ruined my whole experience at his restaurant. Looking at these reviews the user called G Tz reported having the exact same experience a year ago. My recommendation is that this place evolves to the 21st century and that they offer an equal experience to their...
