Food and atmosphere was good, but service was unfortunate. We had a table of four. Before we ordered, I requested separate checks. The waiter refused to provide separate checks.
Since some of us were drinking, and some ordered expensive dishes while others only ordered appetizers, we didn't want to simply divide the check four ways.
The end result is that we had to pass the check around the table, and one-by-one, find and add up what we each ordered, which became a source of stress, as we wanted to ensure fairness and accuracy. This is a narcisistic burden the waiter put on us because he didn't want to provide separate checks.
We each paid by credit card, so the waiter still had to process four different transactions, so it's unclear what he gained by refusing to provide us with separate checks as we requested.
Moreover, the waiter brought all of our meals at separate times. I was finishing my dinner when he finally brought my friend's dinner. So our table did not eat together. Instead, they watched me eat and then I watched them eat. All meals were delivered at different times. So strange and really ruined the dining experience.
When I ordered my queso plate, I asked if the dish came with bread. The waiter said yes, it comes with bread, and he gave me a choice between two breads: plain or tomato. I chose the tomato bread and then he charged me extra for it.
Overall, the waiter was the worst part of our dining experience, but the food and...
Read moreWe made a reservation for casual family diner while visiting CDMX. Unfortunately the restaurant is overrated.
We arrived to restaurant we were not seated, after waiting in main door for a while we seated in a table close to bar, kitchen near a mirror. It took good 10 minutes to the waiters who were seating in front of us to notice we arrived and started the service. We were barely 5 tables dining that Monday night.
We were offered an underwhelming cup with olives and minced peppers, followed by yummy warm bread.
The Octopus, the seafood rice were ok but not exceptional, no even close to real Spanish standards. Well the biggest disappointment was the unavailability of Paella that was the reason we chose Spanish fare for that night (only available on Sundays and you need to ask for it days in advance), I mean is rabbit and some seafood items that challenging to find.
The lamb grilled chops were very bland Swiming in low quality olive oil; I asked medium well and came medium rare, rare close to the bone (cooked frozen?).
Cauliflower soup was good. Overall not the experience we expected for the reviews on google or trip advisor. Definitely will not come back; the neighborhood has great options for the same price and it seems Spanish fare is better in other restaurants around.
Decides not to stay for deserts, they look fresher I a more appetizing on nearby cafes/panaderias with great baristas.
Area and place looks...

For lunch, it was amazing. This is an excellent location on a Sunday, given that the closed streets around it provide great people watching. My outdoor table was waiting for me with a sign with my name and a chipper, inviting staff. The gambas were massive and overall everything was stellar, including the vino blanco (Flor de Vetus Verdejo recommended). I left here on a hight, a triumphant meal at $50 USD.
I came back a week later at night and it was not much busier, but the vibe was immediately different. I was jammed into a bar seat that faced a noxious pool of dishes, which tainted the smell of anything I might have eaten or had to drink. The ever-coughing person behind the bar (and no, not covering their mouth) seemed only to tolerate my existence, as did the rest of the bar staff, who gave the vibe of people serving a lifetime prison sentence. The Iberian ham was tough and inedible - no choppers could chew this jamon, which is the most expensive by far. I had a few more tapa when my glass was ripped from in front of me, quickly drudged into the pool of dishes. After I was ignored again for 15 minutes, I left and went to a restaurant around the corner where everyone seemed jovial. A complete...
