Our experience with this restaurant started badly and got worse. As soon as we were seated, just inside the restaurant with open air to the outdoor tables, the waiter pulled two heavy glass doors shut, sealing us inside. We had not asked for this, and perhaps he was preparing for a cool night, but the effects of his efforts were to unseat us, ask our help in rotating the square table he'd just given us, and then press us up against glass. Staff moved tables and chairs around inside and out, mostly chaotically, for most of our meal, and not because diners were arriving.
The house red wine seemed watered down. The Montepulciano by the glass was marginally better. Our sides of asparagus and spinach with white beans came on tiny plates, hardly enough for one person to feel they had eaten anything. My husband's cheese ravioli in pink sauce came with white sauce instead and my "handmade papardelle" seemed to have been swirled in sauce straight from a box without being cooked. I asked for it to be remade. Judging by the extremely hot plate that came back, they "remade" the dish by sticking it in a microwave or oven on high.
There must be better Italian style restaurants in CDMX. Choose the next one in...
Read moreThe restaurant seemed to promise a special experience- Rainy mushroom season specials- and we were excited to try them. We were presented a plate of mixed mushrooms ( they could have skipped the saran wrap since mushrooms will not be the worse for wear on a plate- like in a Mercado) and explained the many specials incorporating them. I chose the grilled salmon with mixed mushrooms, butter and white wine. We also decided to share a salad to "start". My wife wanted spaghetti and meatballs- a warming dish for a cool rainy night and one that provides a good baseline on an Italian restaurants "fresh pasta" , sauce, and meatballs. Well, the main dishes came, followed a few minutes later by the salad? Odd? The dishes were overwhelmingly average- a "grey" looking salmon, not grilled, topped with mushrooms was ehhhh? The spaghetti and meatballs- also, quite average. My side of "grilled" vegetables, which came halfway during my meal, consisted of 2 thin slices of carrot, and a piece of broccoli- steamed, unseasoned. All of this at a pretty expensive price tag! We decided to go down the street for Carmela gelato to skip what portended to be a likely average dessert. Skip or...
Read moreWORST italian food i have EVER eaten in my ENTIRE LIFE!!!! The complementary bread they started us off with was stale and oily, the papardelle was too salty and bland at the same time with no depth of flavor, the carbonara was a total joke, being too dry, eggless, no sauce, and too salty as well. How is that even possible?? Where is the salt coming from????
The server wanted us to tip him 15% (Crazy) and almost tapped the button himself. Does he have no shame?? This is a restaurant, not a boardwalk. He needs to take his grifting ways OUT of the restaurant and ONTO the streets as a panhandler. Shameful behavior, but other than that he was nice I GUESS.
interior was cute but it was IMPOSSIBLE to enjoy the atmosphere when you are being assaulted/ aSALTed by the horrendous, extragavent, classless taste of the food. there were also street vendors coming up to us and bothering us during the meal and a clarinet player BLASTING his instrument directly between the patio and restaurant. Again, have you no shame? You allow your customers to be ANNOYED and HECKLED by even MORE grifters. At least wait until i'm walking down the street, not while i'm making my best efforts to enjoy this...
