Cerrojo Restaurante — Restaurant in Mexico City

Honestly, very disappointing. We went on a Monday night and the place was empty, had seen some other reviews about h the e birria so went in to try. Asked for it, but there wasn’t any left. Switched to a different item, the choripan: out of bread. Ended up getting empanadas and they were cold, legit almost frozen. I think they pre-cook them and then microwave them again but in my case they didn’t microwave long enough so the middle was a chunk of frozen spinach and cheese. We had two Mezcal margaritas which were good but they did not have the prices for any of the cocktails so was a bit shocked when we got the price, that and tip is automatically included which was new to me here in CDMX as I wasn’t asked as most places so didn’t have a choice to leave the amount I wanted. Beware they will add tip automatically even if food or service is subpar. For two frozen empanadas and two mezcal cocktails plus the tip they added, I paid close to $40 USD. Idk, maybe other items might be better but based on simple empanadas and cocktails not being good can’t imagine what the rest of the food...

This place gets everything right. I didn’t really intend to try Uruguayan food while in Mexico City, but I’m glad I did. I’ve been there twice for dinner. The first night, I had the steak tacos which were amazing and the second night, I had the thin-cut t-bone that you could cut with a fork. Both nights were made even better with amazingly talented local performers and impeccable service. Due to this restaurant being a little farther from the center, their prices are much lower, but that doesn’t imply the food isn’t as good. Do yourself a favor while in Mexico City and get to know a little about Uruguay...

The food is good but overpriced for what they serve. The ambiance was nice and relaxing. They did not have half of what we asked even if it was on their menu. That was annoying. They kept saying: We don't have it... We don't have that either anymore... Sorry, actually we don't have the ingredients anymore....... Ok, but why do you give a menu to clients if you can't serve dishes...
