Forgot to post this review... Dined on Oct 14, 2024 based on strong reviews about their ability to accommodate allergies, but unfortunately left feeling that my dietary restrictions were not taken seriously.

Upon arrival, the hostess asked if anyone in our party had allergies. I informed her that I have Celiac disease and a tree nut/peanut allergy. She relayed this to our server upon seating us. I also provided the server with printed allergy cards (in both English and Spanish), which he took a photo of for future reference. However, he did not read them at that time.

As we began ordering, I found myself needing to ask detailed questions about each dish to determine whether it was safe, as I wasn’t confident the server fully understood the severity or specifics of my allergies. For instance, I asked about the blackened octopus dish, which included tempura. I inquired if it was made with rice or wheat flour—he confirmed it was wheat, and simply told me to order something else. I would have appreciated more proactive guidance through the menu to identify safe options rather than needing to question each item myself.

I also specifically asked him to review the Spanish side of my allergy cards, as I suspected some of the details were being lost in translation. However, he appeared to skim only the beginning before returning the cards.

We ordered: pulled duck tostadas, molcajeteada with fresh (non-fried) corn tortillas, the seasonal chef’s tamal, pork ribs, al pastor tacos, and wagyu skirt tacos.

At one point, another server brought a complimentary sope with beans, avocado sauce, and chilies. I had to ask whether it was safe for me to eat (it was).

Later, during the tableside preparation of molcajeteada salsa, our server asked if the “deep-fried” peppers used were safe for me. I once again raised concerns about the fryer and potential cross-contact. He confirmed it was not safe and quickly stopped the other server from proceeding.

After the molcajeteada, there was a noticeable lull in service. Eventually, our server returned with a dessert menu, despite us still waiting on several dishes we had ordered. When we inquired, he checked the system and said, “No, it’s not working,” without further explanation.

At that point, we requested the bill and left.

Unfortunately, I did not feel safe dining here. While there was some initial acknowledgment of my allergies, the follow-through and attentiveness throughout the meal were lacking, leaving me uneasy and...

Save yourself the hassle and avoid this place if you want to have a decent dining experience.! This restaurant needs to be reminded that they are in a VERY competitive industry and they should not take their place for granted. The ambiance & perhaps the quality of their cuisine (if available) might be the foundation for a nice reset. A few basics: We were greeted and seated by who turned out to be the general manager (Carlos Tamayo), who reminded us that their guests book their reservations 'months' in advance when we kindly requested a booth. (Even though the place was half empty on a Wednesday night). -Our server (Octavio Pozos) made a very unfortunate comment about prices while we were selecting a bottle of wine. We were debating between a 'Cru Garage Cab' from Valle de Guadalupe & a Cabernet Franc from Argentina. Our server mentioned yet another wine but he said that this wine 'was too expensive', gave us the price (even though we did not ask for it) and walked away. This was very rude and offensive of him because the last thing a server should worry about is if a particular guest could or wants to pay for a certain bottle, we were singled out.! -The following courses were not available: LAMB CHOP / T-BONE (first selection), RIB EYE OR PICANA (second selection), TOMAHAWK (third selection). It is completely understandable that sometimes a kitchen runs out of certain dishes, however; our server could have indicated from the beginning of our dining experience that several of their main dishes were not available. After this last pitfall, we requested our check and let Mr. Tamayo know about our experience. We paid our tab in full plus twenty percent gratuity and left. I want to make clear that this is an honest review & constructive criticism to 'Limonsneros' (beggars in Spanish), we are not the type of guests that ask for or want freebies. 'Limosneros' is a 'has been' place that might have been significant a few moons ago. I personally beg you not...

Food was okay but service made me doubt if this restaurant operate with integrity. Here is our experience:

We booked this place to celebrate my GF's birthday at 10/28, but it turned out to be a disaster.

Upon our arrival, the front desk seated us on a corner table which is dark and isolated from other guests, while there are several bright tables available in the main dining hall. We couldn’t help but notice that most white guests were seated in the main dining hall, while Asian guests, like us, were often placed in the more secluded corners.

What's even unpleasant is the dining experience. Our waiter dropped two "BRAISED CHEEK DONUTS", one on the table and one on the ground. He wanted to continue serving us with the one on the table, and I said no. He took it away and promised to bring us two new ones. He then immediately came back with one donut (which we suspect is the one dropped on the table) and never served the second one again.

Then he told us a dish we ordered was no longer available and ask if wants to change to another a chicken dish. We said no and skip that dish. Then after a few minutes he came back and said: "Oh we have that dish again. The other guests are ordering it but I reserve it for you". We were very delighted but when he served, we found he didn't have the dish we want at all and continue serving us with the chicken dish that we explicitly said to skip. We told him this and he said "oh I might have mistakenly told you the wrong dish", but nothing else, no apology no attempt to make up.

Overall I am very disappointed at this restaurant and DO NOT recommend...

This was an exceptional dining experience in the heart of the Historic District of Mexico City. This is Haute Cuisine at its best with a culinary twist in both presentation and the flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine. The ambiance of this charming and intimate restaurant is what first draws you in. The stunning award winning decor from the boutique shop at the entry, to the dining room to even the bathrooms take your breath away. Even the serving dishes and glasses at unique and of exceptional quality. The attention to detail is remarkable. Take the time to examine your surroundings. Service from the welcome and throughout the whole meal is top class. It beats out many Michelin Stars we have been too. We adored our Wine Stewart who knew his wines and was blast to chat with. What can we say about the food other that they serve gastronomic excellence Limosneros offers ingredients and traditional techniques of Mexico with a contemporary touch. A joy to all our senses. Limosneros collects ingredients from their rich homeland to tantalize your palate. Our meal was delivered at a leisurely pace so we could savor each and every dish. That evening we chose their tasting menu with wine pairing. Nine course plus (we had two complimentary ones) with a different wine with each course that blew us away. The freshness and quality of the food could not have been better. They also make custom salsa table-side. We like things spicy and ordered a medium strength to be safe. It was way too spicy. This was a special treat and we could not be happier with our evening. Highly recommend! Reservations are a must.

My wife and I had dinner here in mid Sep 2023. What a great experience. Top 3 dining experiences of the last 10 years. I've never really drunken Mezcal (or don't remember it) but they have artisan Mezcals so I decided to give it a try. The hostess guided me through selection and process graciously. The Mezcal was great with multiple layers of flavor and a beautiful oaky finish a few seconds later. This would be a theme. We had two appetizers. The Sardines and Potatoes were brilliant. The potatoes squares were lightly crunchy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. The sardine with the thinnest baked onion slice led to a beautiful tasting experience. The flavors presented and built on each other in perfect harmony. Second was the Braised Cheek Donuts in Drunken Red Sauce. It consisted of braised beef somehow roped in a circle and with a thin crust making a beautiful donut that when dipped into the light, favorable mole sauce was divine. Again multiple flavors presenting themselves in order and harmony. For the main course, I had the 21 day aged duck paired with burnt onion sauce, white chocolate / cauliflower sauce and some kind of mole. I know it sounds odd but it was super special and all worked together. Nothing overpowered each other and somehow the flavors come out at different times as you savor it. The restaurant is decorated in a fun and eclectic design. The staff is great. Bill totaled $210 USD for a couple for drinks, wine, 3 appetizers and an entree.
