At the heart of central Mexico City, El Lago offers premium location with its fancy set up. One side of the restaurant oversees a small lake, there’s even a roller coaster on the other side of the lake. We were there for a conference event, so it wasn’t truly a critique on its menu items, more like its catering services. I have to say they have a lot of improvements to make.
The ceviche salad was certainly the highlight of the meal, it was very fresh and mixed with avocado was brilliant, I wanted to ask for a second plate, but unfortunately it ran out.
Now the main entree, the cod fish dish and beef(or pork) slices? The fish was over cooked and left in the kitchen for too long, meat wasn’t tender anymore and had a very blend taste to it. I haven’t had such mediocre tasting cod fish in a very long time. The pork/beef slide was difficult to cut and almost tasteless, my friend couldn’t even finish half of the plate. Definitely something to think about to improve in the future!

Read moreWe came here on Saturday afternoon thinking it was a cultural center as well as a restaurant but upon arrival there were no exhibits to see and appeared to only be a restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation so we put our names down for a table of 4 and took a walk down by the water.
Once we received the text notifying us that our table was ready we were seated at a lovely table with a great view of the water. Service during lunch was pretty spotty, our server disappeared for large chunks of time throughout and when one of my friends ordered a wellness shot our server said that he wouldn’t like it and that it would make him feel weird.
The complimentary pastries to start were a nice touch and my friends loved their enfrijoladas. I ordered the eggs with wild mushrooms and asked for a side of the vegetables but it showed up with ham on top instead which was a bummer. My husband got the duck sandwich and said that it was fine. Overall lunch was ok, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here and would not recommend this to friends coming to...
Read moreThere were empty tables inside but they sat us outside. Then the waiter offered coffee instead of handing us the menu first, we said yes and he served us drip coffee without asking if that was ok, I would have preferred to see the menu first and order an espresso drink. I saw other tables had bottles with water which we didn't get, when I asked for water the waiter said yes but never gave us water. I ordered chilaquiles which come with a side of beans and there was a worm in the bowl! I mentioned it to the waiter and he got the captain and chef to come apologise, they offered a free dish, appreciate them doing this and I wasn't even bothered about the worm as it looked kinda cute, like it came from the ingredients being fresh, however it was the whole thing that left a bad feeling hence I'm even writing my first review ever, especially as for the prices and type of place, it should be a...
