Los Turcos — Restaurant in Mexico City

An incredible Turkish Restaurant in Mexico City. My wife, who is from Istanbul, and I have been living in Mexico for ten years and haven't found one Turkish restaurant during our time living here.

We first visited CDMX in 2015 and searched everywhere for Turkish cuisine (considering there are 20 million people living here), but unfortunately we were left with mediocre attempt at Middle Eastern cuisine.

During our most recent visit we found Los Turcos in Roma Norte and we were overjoyed with the flavors and tastes from the country across the ocean. We had mezes and the pide. Everything was incredible. The sutlac for dessert was amazing! Ohhhhhh....and it was so nice to drink Turkish tea. The Turkish coffee was incredible; the owner made the coffee the traditional way --- in hot sand.

Don't miss out on this restaurant if you want to experience Turkish cuisine. Top notch service and a wonderful experience.

Turkish food for people who don't like Turkish spices.

This place is cute, but they have little passion for their food. The service was nice once they paid attention.

The hummus and the muhammara were clearly scooped from the fridge, cold, barely seasoned, and sad. The accompanying pita was stale and cold.

Almost everything lacked seasoning, which they solve by offering spiced salsas. When I bite into a kofta I expect a roar of flavor, instead I got whisper that begged for salsa to carry the weight.

I will admit the rice was delicious and outshined everything else on the plate in terms of seasoning, but for a 290 peso kofta dish, that's not really what I'm looking for. However the portions were large which is a plus.

It seems like the place is aimed at people who don't actually like seasoning on their food, which is a damn shame because Turkish spices are among the most delicious...

Tuve una terrible experiencia en los turcos, fue la segunda vez que fui, pedimos un par de entradas y esperábamos consumir postres y café, íbamos con la expectativa de la lectura de café ya que la primera vez nos lo había mencionado el mesero de forma muy insistente. Un día antes mandé mensaje para confirmar.

1- los meseros tardaron mucho tiempo en tomarnos la orden 2- el mesero que nos atendió dijo que si no consumíamos un platillo fuerte por persona, no nos leerían el café 3- la gerente no resolvió a pesar de que le dijimos que la información brindada por dos fuentes de su negocio no había sido clara 4- pedimos platillos fuertes para tener la lectura d café 5- el mesero nos negó la lectura de café a pesar de nuestro consumo.

Me quedo con un muy mal sabor de boca por el mal servicio, la negativa del personal pero sobre todo por LA PUBLICIDAD ENGAÑOSA Y POCO CLARA.

Por ello te invito a:

1- ser claros con la información que comparten ya que no comentan que es con el consumo de un platillo por persona, ni en su página, ni en medios de comunicación.

2- pedirle a los meseros que lo notifiquen, ya que como lo comenté, el mesero que me atendió la primera vez me lo promocionó sin ser específico.

3- en tu bitácora podrás observar que pedimos postres y café después, ya que era nuestra intención quedarnos después de las 6pm para seguir conviviendo perooooo… EL MESERO YA NI SIQUIERA SE ACERCO A LA MESA Y LAS BEBIDAS QUE CONSUMIMOS DESPUÉS, EL CAFÉ Y LOS POSTRES TUVIMOS QUE PEDIRLOS A ALGUIEN MÁS.

TAMBIÉN ES IMPORTANTE MENCIONAR QUE EL MESERO NOS DIJO QUE CON EL CONSUMO DE LAS ENTRADAS SOLO PODRÍA RECIBIR LA LECTURA UNA PERSONA, LE DIJIMOS QUE NO HABÍA TEMA Y QUE PEDIRÍA UN PLATO FUERTE (deben de mencionar también que no aplica la cortesía si se decide compartir el plato) YA QUE NORMALMENTE MI COMIDA LA COMPARTO CON QUIEN YO QUIERO..

Y POR SUPUESTO, LA PEOR GROSERÍA ES QUE A LAS 5:50pm OTRO MESERO SE ACERCÓ A LA CHICA DEL CAFÉ PARA PREGUNTARLE SI PODÍA ATENDER A DOS DE SUS COMENSALES A LO QUE ELLA RESPONDIÓ QUE SI. EL MESERO QUE ME ATENDIÓ NUNCA LO HIZO Y CABE MENCIONAR QUE YO HABÍA CONSUMIDO Y TERMINADO E incluso LLEGAOD MUCHO ANTES QUE ESAS PERSONA A quienes SI SE LES ATENDIÓ.

ES UN LUGAR MUY ORIGINAL PERO ESAS GROSERÍAS DEJAN...
