Nice Day Coffee — Restaurant in Mexico City

Great pastries and solid coffee when it’s made consistently, but the employees really ruin this place for me. Zero understanding of good customer service flow or multitasking.

It’s like they they are blind or living in their own world without customers. Whatever they are currently doing is more important than a new customer or already waiting customer. I understand we are in a different country where customer service is different, but I’ve even brought my local Mexican friends and they couldn’t believe it either.

One experience - we are the only ones here and wanting to order coffees and pastries. The woman is counting out a bag of money on the counter and completes that task before even saying hi or acknowledging us. We stood there for 5+ minutes waiting for her to finish. It just became funny after awhile because we couldn’t believe it.

Repeated experience - restocking pastries or cleaning areas of the shop and completing that task before attending to new or waiting customers. No greeting or let me stop this non-urgent task to help someone who is waiting…

Repeated experience - They measure the V60 coffee out on a scale, yet somehow the volume of coffee in the togo cups is always different. Sometimes I’ll get a cup filled to the brim, other times it’s 60% full. The flavor is obviously different each time also. Today it was not even close to being full and very flavorless.

It’s frustrating because this place has a lot of potential and when the (who I believe to be) owners are there, it’s consistent quality/service...

It’s such a delight to see this cafe open!

Full disclosure: I’ve yet to eat there in person and I’ve known one of the owners/operators since we went to high school together. Her family owned a restaurant in our hometown with amazing food and wonderful service. I still think about their delicious and nourishing soup, which my mom would pick up for us when we got sick.

So much care has gone into the planning and design of every aspect of this establishment and business. And most every time I hear an update, the thing my friend is most passionate about is creating a rewarding, supportive work environment for the staff. It is a pleasure to see this vision become a reality. I’m rooting for and delighted by this café’s success. And I’m so looking forward...

I went here with my girlfriend a few days ago, we decided to order some chilaquiles and it was amazing, the salsa they use here has a good flavor that combines with the sour cream leaves you with one of the most delicious meals that I’ve ever had in my life. We also ordered a lemonade, it was very sweet, cold and very refreshing. Everything was perfect, the prices are pretty low but the food is super delicious and has good quality ingredients. Also the waitress (Frida) was super kind and respectful, she is very fluent in English and explained things that we didn’t understand clearly. I would recommend this place 100%, it’s cheap, delicious, the menus are in English and the staff...
