Definitely is on my top ramen and sushi list. This place is fantastic: the ramen is delicious (I saw some comments regarding if it was authentic Japanese ramen or not… I don’t know, but I love ramen and it has been one of my favorites, besides the portions are really generous). Besides, the soup is not greasy. You can spend around 200 MXN pesos and be satisfied with a good ramen. Usually, a good ramen is more expensive than that in this town.
We also ordered some mixed nigiris, these were really good, a great idea to try different ones for a good price.
And the great deal: they had sushi at 3x1!!! We didn’t try the sushi, but if the nigiris were good, I bet the sushi is def worth it.
We didn’t have a chance to try any beverage, but the weather told us about a sake drink that sounds delicious.
The dessert was soooo good. It was an affogato (not Japanese I know) but it was served so nicely and the coffee was not overwhelming. They served the coffee on top of the ice cream on our table, and they even had some expresso left in case we wanted a stronger coffee taste.
The servers were really kind and really attentive to our questions and to offer us a good service. They don’t push you to order something expensive or multiple things, and you can def chat with them for a while about the dishes, the place or anything you are curious about.
Bonus: there is a room in the back we’re you can sing Karaoke with your friends privately and get some drinks...
Read moreIt is nice to find one of the most original and authentic Japanese restaurants in Mexico City. The staff was ready and polite all the time, their decor which takes you back to the 80's era, with lunchboxes and toys from that decade, makes a very interesting statement to the ambience and everything works together perfectly with the Japanese motifs of the place. I have eaten several times here, in the terrace, at the bar, and their private room that even comes with a flatscreen tv and an amazing roof that slides open if needed (for all of you smokers out here) !
Some of my all time favorites are the salmon roll, the tempura Udon (yum) and some delicacies that ONLY here you will get at a very Good price: The Chutoro, the Ootoro and the Toro... in other places you will get each piece for $250 pesos at least... Here, you will get those for less than $100 pesos... same quality!!! and for dessert, try the Affogato! Their Affogato reminds me of one I have tasted in Korean town in LA. Aburiya on Lerma street is a must if you want to try really good Japanese cuisine without the crazy price tag you get in other places in Mexico City. They also are the inventors of the Japanese Criollo cuisine, ask you waiter for those too, you'll be surprised, same as me! Oh! I almost forgot! the Salmon they use is from New...
Read moreTL;DR: Food was bad, service was terrible, atmosphere was not good at all.
Food wise: We wanted to use the 3x1 in sushi rolls discount, from the +15 rolls available, only ONE was fresh fish, the rest of the options had cooked the fish somehow. I had to give up on my sushi craving and tried a temaki. This was the only thing that was okay in the entire experience. I ordered a "rib eye" curry. It was NOT rib eye, it was arrachera (a much cheaper type of beef that's already marinated), and it had several chunks of fat. It was served in a plate instead of a bowl, and the portion of rice was EXTREMELY small. The flavor of the curry was not good at all, it was way too sweet and I couldn't even taste the spices.
Service wise: The service was terrible. The lady who served our table was always gone, we had to shout to get her attention because the music was so loud, and I had to wait 20 minutes and ask 4 times just to get a spoon. Additionally, the guy who was waiting other tables had a very arrogant and bossy attitude.
Atmosphere wise: The music was so loud we couldn't talk amongst ourselves. This would be expected from a disco or a party place, but a Japanese restaurant was supposed to be...
