Suites Del Angels is very well located; literally off the Paseo de la Reforma, barely 100 metres from the Ángel de la Independencia. Many eateries are located in the vicinity, offering a good selection of Mexican and international fare. Zócalo is also only a short taxi ride away. So, for most visitors, the location is ideal.||The hotel itself is reasonably good and seems to be undergoing some renovation. Maintenance is reasonable though not all systems work. For instance, the vaunted Jacuzzi in the bathtub did not work in our suite. ||The hotel has mainly suites with a sitting room, a functional kitchenette with microwave and hotplate along with a small refrigerator (though they do not provide pots and pans for rustling up a small meal), a bed room of good size and a bathroom. ||The sitting room is of good size and also has a sofa-bed for a third occupant or for children. One thing missing is a work desk, which is essential for any visitors in the city for work. Also, lighting is a bit dim with no way to increase the light. The bedroom has a large-enough bed with closets and a dressing table. Some suites also come with a balcony though these suites are also exposed to external noise, even though the glazing on the windows and doors is good. ||Breakfast served in the cafe is reasonable through without any variety. ||The main trouble with the suites is maintenance, especially linen. More than once in our 8 nights stay we noticed holes in the bedsheets and frayed towels. The lift did not work at all during our 8 nights stay at the hotel. However, cleaning staff tries to persevere and does a good job. ||Also, given that this hotel will mostly cater to international visitors, electric sockets only take Mexican plugs. ||One more issue with this hotel is the staff and its training. English is spoken only marginally but what is objectionable is the degree of insistence on advance payment despite having the credit card as guarantee. Frankly, in all out travels across the world, this is the first time that we have come across almost obscene insistence on advance payment. That was after we had paid for 7 of the 8 nights stay in cash upon checkin and they had already verified by card for the 8th night.||Last, wifi leaves much to be desired. Connection is...
Read moreLocation was really central in Roma Norte near the Angel of independence, and convenient to get everywhere. The separate living room was nicely appointed, and stylish. I liked hanging out in his room. Bedroom was stylish and had reasonably comfortable bed and bedding. There was alot of little stuff that needed repair but apparently they don't pay attention or care. Main issues I had were in the kitchen and bath areas. kitchen only had 2 of everything. cups, coffee cups, plates, forks. Curiously it had a 2 burner cooktop but nothing to use- no pots, pans, or tea kettle. Luckily I was able to heat water in the microwave. The mini fridge was not working. The bathroom smelled of sewage and was making random gurgling sounds all the time. They only provide 1 bar of soap for the entire bathroom. bath sink constantly dripped. there is no instruction on how to switch water from bathtub spout to shower and there was nothing obvious so I had to ask the front desk. the way to do it is to pull down on the gold ring that is on the water spout end of the bathtub spout. water filtration unit in kitchen did not work and they dont fix it. they just say it is broken and I have to go buy water down the street at Oxxo. This was really inconvenient. The phone was broken. Affiliated Restaurant next door that you can pay 100 pesos for breakfast is definitely not worth it, and the food was nothing great. better to eat elsewhere.||||I did not have many options in the roma norte area, as my reservation was last minute, and 2 prior bookings elsewhere was booked and paid but afterwards I was notified that there were actually no rooms available so I was kind of desperate and couldn't take it anymore so I settled on the first hotel that didnt...
Read moreStayed at Suites Del Angel for a quick CDMX layover whilst waiting for my flight back home and after arriving was terribly disappointed! Was surprised at first to find a small hotel reception when I was expecting a private airbnb, but this was the only nice thing about this place. When I checked in, there was no receptionist so the night guard took down my information and gave my room card. Went up to the room to find the small living room had huge stains on the furniture, the bathroom was dirty from previous guests, the bed linen was filthy with what looked like makeup/blood stains, there were hairs all over the bed, and inside drawers and the overall cleanliness of the room was way below average, with old dust on the artwork and wrinkles on what should be new bedsheets. It seemed as though the room had just been put together after guests had left, without proper bed changing, bathroom cleaning and even overall bedroom look. Not what you want to find at check-in during a global pandemic! When telling the staff in the morning, they said I must not have seen it properly or that it could have been my own hairs or makeup and they did not make a single effort to correct the situation or apologize for the filth. Would highly recommend staying somewhere else, as the location is quite central to fun activities and restaurants, but during covid times, definitely expected a clean, safe and protected stay. Would give a ZERO if I...
