I would give it less stars but, the food was good, the drinks were ok, the experiences offered, unknown.
While staying in the area we came to have a very tasty and delicious breakfast here at El Nido. Luis took our order the first day and between him and other servers made an accommodating and pleasant experience. The croissant was crunchy and soft, a must try. The latte was also great so I had to get a second one. The enchiladas de suadero as well as the mole are also a must try. As I was walking to the back I saw a Mural of Diego Rivera and decided to take a picture, while doing so, Chef Gabriel gave me some information about the Mural and why it was there. He also informed me of the two different experiences they offered one being Sensoria and the other being Barra de Maiz. I asked to book for the Barra de Maiz and they told me they would get back to me the next day. Two days later, we came to eat here again and also asked if I had a table for the Thursday or Friday of the same week and unfortunately they didn't know but gave me the contact information of Joe, who took a another day to reply. I was staying within a block distance so when I became aware of this I wanted to try it. It took much l longer than I expected to get an answer, and unfortunately they didn't have space. I think as for the experiences, there should be a better way to do it, perhaps more organized somehow. I could have gone to another restaurant instead of waiting for an answer.
I would give it less stars because of the lack of communication but the food, location and service was good, cocktails were ok. The response for the experience needs to...
Read moreThe location and ambiance were good but the service and food quality were average. We ordered two appetizers and one main to share but all three dishes came out at the same time, so the main dish became cold when we were ready to eat. We were not offered an extra bowl and a serving spoon for the soup even though we told our server we were going to share. We realized that we got a wrong main dish after already eating one piece of meat. We notified the staff that we were served a wrong dish. He asked if we wanted them to cook the dish we ordered but we just accepted what we got because we didn’t want to wait but told him we should get charged for what we ordered. We were told it was taken care. The beef fillet was not tender. After the meal, we were offered sweet bread for the mistake. Clearly they were what they served during the breakfast but we appreciated and happily accepted two pieces of danish. The bill came. In stead of what we ordered, what they served was charged. Even after we mentioned the staff twice the bill should reflect the menu item we ordered, not what we were mistakenly served, it had the latter. So we just paid because we didn’t want to ask again. It’s such a basic thing as a restaurant and we shouldn’t even have to ask. We had a couple of drinks, one bottle of white wine (1,180 pesos which is lower end at this restaurant), two apps and one main. Our bill was about 2,500 pesos plus tip, which is fine to pay if our experience was better. The service people were all very nice but not fully trained as they are students of the culinary school and the food quality did not meet our expectation for the...
Read moreThe food was delicious even though the menu is very limited and the service was really good. However, there are a few more things to consider when rating a restaurant. The atmosphere created in this place was good, and that's all we had because the place was empty during the time we were there, just us and the staff. There were a few things that even though they might seem little, did manage to ruin my restaurant experience. My partner asked for a beer and he got the bottle and a very much regular and ugly glass, branded with a different beer's brand to serve it, it felt cheap. One of the plates were the food was served was broken, it was just a small chip on the border of it but we could see it anyways.
This place is not cheap, and even though the food was worth it, those little details made it feel cheap.
The mojito I asked for was a cocktail far from a mojito, very expensive as well, so when paying that, I would have expected to be fully happy and feeling in the Caribbean but it wasn't anything close to that.
To end things, the sauce was delicious but we got no spoons to serve it. It was hard to use the fork and yes, we could have asked for a spoon, I didn't because I was already upset and didn't want to be rude to the server, who didn't have the fault for all the other things and was...
