This massive, factory-sized bakery provides every type of pastry, bread, and cake you’d want at extremely inexpensive prices. While not high-end, all the desserts we bought were delicious, and the bread was a rustic multigrain that went great with soup. That said… this is not your normal bakery. Coming here in the afternoon will feel like a free-for-all. Maybe a hundred fellow shoppers running around collecting and paying. Tables stacked high with foods. It looks like pure chaos. If you’ve never been before, the order of operations is to grab a large silver tray and your own tongs. Run around stacking all the baked goods you want. Next, you go to the area where folks are packaging. You drop off your tray and get handed a ticket. They’ll package it and wrap it into either parchment paper or boxes. With the ticket, you head over to pay. This is usually the longest lineup. Allegedly they take credit card, but I’ve never managed to get it to work and having cash is your best bet. Finally, after paying, you’ll get a receipt and ticket. Take both back to the person who packed your baked goods. Congrats, you did it. It’s a unique experience and once complete, you’ll be heading out with kilos of pastry. Amazing. Prices are about 10-20 pesos per pastry, and about 20 peso for a loaf of bread. Oh yeah, no helpful English-speaking staff. They’ve got enough locals to process that there’s no time for us tourists. Hopefully my guide above is helpful.

I went to Pasteleria Ideal to get Pan de muertos. The small sizes were completely solf out and they had larger ones in big boxes I didn't need all that so i looked around the table laden with baked goods and picked up a pastry shaped like a skull. The pastry was glazed and flaky and super delicious. I wish i had gotten there earlier to have their pan de muertos. I went around 5? 6 pm and it was very very crowded with people off work. But they had people to bag your food and multiple cashiers so the line moved suuuper fast. I tried to tip the girl for bagging my pastry but she declined saying it was against store policy.

Pros: Good prices. Not too sweet. Alot of varieties including empanadas but its cold and not warm/hot. They can package it for you by wrapping it up in a semi cardboard box warped with paper for your trip back home (mines survived the trip to California lol). I also forgot which of the two Pasteleria Ideal locations but I over payed and the nice lady gave back my money Cons: Too many customers. Alot of pastries are sitting on tables uncovered with people, dust and bugs flying around. They should be inside display cases.

Delicious pastries, let your eyes wander. Grab a tray and tongs and pick out what you would like. Prices are not marked; however, items were inexpensive. The Chino was my favorite. drop your choices with the packing ladies and they will provide a ticket to pay at the cashier while they wrap up your choices to go. They can get frustrated if you don’t know the process. Either way, a little frustration is definitely worth the yummy treats you get in the end. Would definitely return.

This place was packed with locals picking up dozens of their favorite pastries, cakes, and cookies. The cookie line was pretty long, but worth the wait - we got a variety and all have been good. They also have some good tres leches cake here. The payment system was a little quirky, but you essentially place your order, get a ticket with a price, pay for all of the tickets you’ve collected, then go back to retrieve your food.
