For some overpriced tacos, come over to Takotl! Although the takatakas felt like it should have been the highlight of the restaurant, we did not feel the same. A piece of seaweed acts as the wrap but it tasted too saucy for one piece of seaweed to hold it. The takatakas are also more much than a regular taco.
I think the best part of this place was that the fries that came with the Takotl hamburger came in a cute little shopping cart. But the bacon bits kept falling through the cart. The burger was okay but nothing was spectacular about it. By appearance, it looks a bit flat or dull.
We had two issues with our bill. Upon checking the bill, we found out we were overcharged an order of fries because the only fries the table had were the ones that came with the Takotl hamburger. They stated that they could not refund it as we already paid with card. So they graciously gave us a cash refund which was acceptable. The other issue we had was that someone ordered a mushroom (champiño) taco but we believed it contained chicken. Later, they brought her the proper...
Read moreThis is my wife's posting on Tripadvisor, which I fully support: "We made an advance dinner reservation at Takotl. I ordered shrimp tacos and beef tenderloin. The tacos were amazing, and the steak was great. The story with my husband was quite different. While we were going there, he started feeling unwell. When we came, he just asked for water, and could not eat anything. Our waiter asked him a few times whether everything was OK, and whether he could help. My husband kept saying that he was fine – he was not. Then another stuff member came to our table and guided my husband through a series of breathing exercises. That helped a lot. Then she brought hot herbal tea, which helped my husband to recover even more. I don’t remember seeing so much compassion anywhere. Two days later we came back. My husband fully recovered by then, and we had wonderful taco dinner with mixology drinks. They have variety of food and drinks, and whatever we tried...
Read moreAmazing food and service! Here’s what we ordered:
Takataka Taco (rib eye, arrachera, salmon) Taco Ensenada de Pescado: All were fantastic, but the Takataka rib eye and arrachera stood out. Both are well-marinated with rich flavors, offering a burst of multiple distinct tastes in every bite.
Chicharrón de Rib Eye: A fun, build-your-own taco with guacamole, diced beef, nori chips, and sauce. The nori added a great crunch.
Sopa de Queso Oaxaca: the only dish that’s disappointing. The flavor was bland, and the mint addition felt out of place.
Esfera Takotl (dessert): Really creative presentation.
Tenochititlan (drink): Outstanding! A refreshing mix of cucumber, lemon, and rosemary.
Our server, Julian, made a clear effort to speak English. Moreover, we feel he’s almost excited to serve us! It’s rare to find waiters who’re passionate...
