Veranda Bistro — Restaurant in Mexico City

What a beautiful restaurant! I was not expecting to have the best cup of clam chowder in my life in Mexico. I lived in New England for 6 years and have spent plenty of time in San Francisco... but damn... this clam chowder beats them all. This place supposedly served the first sandwich in Mexico. The ingredients were super simple, but the taste was incredible. When you're done with your meal, I recommend going up the spiral stairs to peak inside of the small office. You get a great view of the hotel lobby. Although the food was amazing, expect service to be slow. We were the only ones in the restaurant, so it was odd for that to happen. Like some of the other reviews mention, the young waiters were off to the side gossiping, which was disappointing. Our server was great. I imagine that there were lots of room service orders. I had breakfast here and it was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere is absolutely spectacular – it feels like stepping into a fairy tale. The place is full of history, filled with joy, and even surrounded by birds, which makes it even more magical.

El hotel es muy bonito, pero desafortunadamente hay muchas cosas que mencionar que no hicieron grata la experiencia. En cuanto a la comida hay algunas cosas que están bien y muchas que son simples, no lo consideraría un buffet para recomendar por el sabor, que no fue malo, pero no es destacable. El ambiente tiene una atmósfera que luce agradable, pero dependiendo donde te sienten te quedan pegados los comensales de las mesas contiguas, escuchas y escuchan tus pláticas, por lo que si quieres privacidad no es un buen lugar definitivamente. El tema del servicio en cuanto al restaurante estuvo bien, pero se vuelve muy desagradable la experiencia cuando quieres recorrer las exhibiciones y en un área sin señalamiento de que no se pueda pasar y sin que hubiera persona alguna para explicar amablemente, llegan y te piden de forma grosera que te vayas de la sección, que no puedes estar ahí porque solo es para los huéspedes. Luego, cuando recomendé con tranquilidad que pusieran un señalamiento de que estaba prohibido el paso, alguien del personal me dijo que no lo necesitaban porque para eso estaba el, casi discutiendo conmigo, pero da la casualidad de que no estaba, el llegó después. Al final uno también es consumidor del lugar y que te regañen por temas de mala gestión de su espacio, falta de atención y pésimo servicio al consumidor hace que si hubo algo grato en el restaurante, termine el consumidor deseando...
