Villa María — Restaurant in Mexico City

We had a great experience here. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the staff was extremely attentive. They have a top class mariachi band that performs all night. The decor is beautiful, and they have some funny quotes and puns scattered all over the walls. I tried their steak and was happy. They thin slice it and serve with herb butter. We had a large group, so we all shared many dishes. I don't think there was a single one that I didn't like. Try the guacamole con saltamontes (grasshopper) if you're up for something different! The arranchera was good. Several team members tried the fish dishes, and were happy. All.of the tacos were great. Huitlacoche and champinones were tasty. We had a mixed experience at Villa Maria Restaurant. The highlight of the meal was definitely the chapulines served with our guacamole, a unique and fun surprise that gave us a taste of local flavor. The rest of the food, however, was just okay. Nothing particularly memorable, but not bad either.

The atmosphere was festive, with live mariachi music throughout dinner adding a nice touch, and the traditional decor made for a warm, cultural setting.

Service was a bit of a miss for us. While our waiter was clearly attentive and eager to help, it felt a little overbearing and hovering at times, which made it hard to relax and enjoy our family meal. Giving us a bit more space could have made the experience more comfortable and enjoyable.

We’d consider giving Villa Maria another try, especially for the ambiance and music, but it wouldn’t be our first pick next...

Lovely Mexican ambience with live music and tasty Mexican cuisine! Spent my birthday here with my local friends and it was amazing! Music, cocktails, food and the wonderful hospitality made it a great evening! The ambience is spanish mexican theme with similar costumes worn by the staff. Live salsa music played by musicians. Happy atmosphere! Staff is friendly and helpful. Langauage is a barrier though, only speak spanish! So, its better to have local friends to help out. Service is quick and efficient.
