To say o was disappointed is an understatement. The place is always so busy, and everywhere I researched the name popped up as best tacos in town. So I was ready and excited tofinally try them out. After waiting a long time, to be seated on a small rickety table and chairs, on a busy street mind you, you get to wait for your food while Inhaling the lovely smells of cad exhaust (traffic downtown Sayulita is a serious business) The pharmacist next door was closing shop and sweeping the floor and the dust was coming off her steps towards our direction. The service was mediocre, I’m talking waiter carrying bottles of drinks in his pockets. The table had barely been cleaned after the customers before us and the set of salsas with spoons still on the table. These are still Covid times and I asked for them to at least change the spoons which they obliged. When asked on the ingredients in the tacos, the waiter was clueless, he had no idea whatsoever. We ordered a guac, shrimp and fish tacos as the place is famous for the shrimp tacos. Then shrimp taco was well seasoned but skimpy on the portion. The fish tacos we ordered a couple of varieties, breaded and grilled Mahi Mahi. Both came with very little fish and a way too much cole slaw. I could barely taste the fish most of the bites. Not enough sauce either and the fish didn’t seem very fresh. I live in Mexico and I know what good tacos are supposed to taste like and those my friends were nothing special and certainly not extraordinary tacos. Was It because it was late at night and they started running out of ingredients? Are they victim of their success? Was the regular cook off? I don’t know but I am not giving them another chance that...
Read moreWe recently had the opportunity to dine at this establishment for lunch, having been enticed by numerous favorable reviews. While our experience was generally agreeable, it did not quite match the high expectations set by the enthusiastic recommendations.
🌮🥗Our Culinary Experience:
Our meal included a steak burrito and a vegetable bowl. While both were satisfying, they failed to provide a remarkable culinary experience. The burrito, despite its savory contents, was somewhat small and exhibited a slightly soggy texture that necessitated the use of cutlery. The vegetable bowl was a testament to the restaurant's commendable effort in catering to vegan and health-conscious customers.
👍🏼Overall Assessment:
This establishment can be appropriately described as a standard Mexican restaurant. It didn't particularly stand out from the crowd, but neither did it disappoint significantly. Although we do not find ourselves enthusiastically recommending this eatery, it would serve adequately for those seeking a casual Mexican meal.
☝🏼Personal Preference:

Read moreMary's is located right in the heart of Sayulita. This town has seen a huge influx of tourists (us included!) in recently years. Unfortunately, this makes parking in the area a nightmare. You'll be circling around trying to find an available spot. Next time, I would just find a paid lot and park there to save the hassle and time.
When we got there, there were maybe 3 other parties in front of us, and we were seated pretty quickly. The menu is in English and Spanish and the servers all speak English well. We got the Breaded Fish, Breaded Shrimp, Shrimp Tacos and the Mary's Taco as well as a Ceviche large.
The Tacos were good, not the best I've ever had, but it holds its own. The fish tacos had crispy breading but not so for the shrimp, so I'm not sure what happened there. The Mary's Taco was flavorful but didn't really stand out in any way, I think my favorite has to be the Ceviche. That on the toastadas with some spicy sauces really hit the spot for me.
This place is lively and located right across the bridge. You might be right there in the street with passing tourists and other folks soaking in the Sayulita energy as you fill your belly.
A heads up, this place...
