Dear Campomar Team,
I dined at your San Pedro Garza location in Monterrey on Thursday March 6th, and unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations—both in terms of service and overall hospitality. Compared to other high-end dining establishments in Monterrey, as well as major cities across Mexico and the U.S., the service was disappointing.
Beyond the subpar service, I had to order a bottle of wine three times. Each time, I was told that the wine I requested was out of stock, and I was instead offered a more expensive alternative with completely different grape varieties. By the third attempt, I asked to speak with the manager, Octavio, to see if he would approve the alternative bottle at the same price as my original selection, given that the price difference was only 200 Mexican pesos. His response was dismissive and condescending—he outright refused, stating he wouldn’t "drop the price and lose money on it."
This left a really poor impression of what I had expected to be a great dining experience. I’m currently in Monterrey for a three-month project, staying in San Pedro Garza, and had initially considered this restaurant as a go-to spot for entertaining clients. Unfortunately, after this experience, that is no longer the case.
For reference, my bill that evening totaled 2,999 pesos (approximately $115 USD) for just one person—not exactly an inexpensive night out.
I wanted to share my experience in the hope that future guests don’t encounter the same issues. Thank you for your time.
Best,
Ernesto
Read moreWe had an amazing experience at Campomar! The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. We started with a fresh octopus appetizer that was incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned — a great way to kick things off.
For our main courses, we enjoyed the coconut shrimp, which were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with just the right touch of sweetness. The fettuccine Alfredo was rich, creamy, and comforting — a classic done right. The highlight, though, was the camarones zarandeados — smoky, spicy, and bursting with flavor. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked.
The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. Definitely a spot worth returning to....
Read moreI have dined here twice, unfortunately, and been disappointed both times. The first time they did not have any oysters for lunch. The second time the mussels I ordered were terrible. Old and cold, and not prepared as described on the menu. You may make the mistake in thinking, as I did, that this is a good restaurant because it is in the Arboleda area. The reality is this is a low quality food restaurant that the poor office workers next door dine at. Loud obnoxious environment with poor quality food. Waiters constantly bumping into tables, chairs, and worst of all bumping into people sitting and eating. Avoid this restaurant, if you want to call it that,...
