Cantinetta — Restaurant in Nuevo León

A solid Italian eatery with decent food served with the slowest service.

Arriving at Cantinetta, we were instantly greeted and seated at the very back of the restaurant. We got menus right away, but it took a while for someone to take our order. That was nothing, though, compared to the painfully long wait for our food. We waited over 45 minutes, and to make things worse, we saw other tables that arrived after us getting their food first, which was frustrating.

We were given some house bread while we waited, which was pretty good, but it didn’t make up for the ridiculous wait. When our food finally arrived, it was lukewarm instead of hot—another letdown. The dishes themselves were good—the fusilli arrabbiata had a nice kick (7.5/10), the fettuccine alfredo was solid, and the tomato soup was decent enough.

Service remained slow throughout our visit, despite having multiple waiters running around our area, none of whom bothered to explain why our food was taking so long—even when tables seated after us were being served first.

Prices are on the higher side but fair for San Pedro. The atmosphere was great, but waiting nearly an hour for pasta is just...

Service: A very average service that leaves much to be desired. Being used to similar places with excellent service makes us question whether we would return. In my experience, we were never greeted upon arrival, and despite asking several times, we were only given the menu much later. In the end, we ordered some food to go and were given someone else’s order. We had made a reservation for a birthday, but it was never acknowledged in any way.

Food: Without a doubt, one of the best pizzas in the city. The pasta dishes are also good, though more on the average side. We ordered the Italian sausage pizza, the spinach ravioli, and the Wagyu rigatoni. Drinks were quite average in terms of flavor.

Ambience: The place has beautiful decor and music that fits the setting well. It’s spacious, with plenty of tables, and ideal for a special dinner.

Summary: Excellent food that, with an improved level of service, could really stand out. I hope they can work on this aspect...

Este es un capítulo de nuestra infame sección “el mundo al revés” 🙃No me gustó. Pero no me disgustó y es justo para el lugar y quien me lee, explicar el porqué.

Seguramente tiene que ver con que esperaba más de una oferta en Arboleda y allí está el error, como cuando pensé que los Arbolitos de Cajeme estaría muy bien. Me caigo mal por elegir tarugadas.

Seré más claro. Lo alimentos no son malos, solo ninguno es sobresaliente. No hay sorpresa positiva salvo la ambientación del lugar sobre todo si eres joven, vas en bola por tragos y cotorreo o eres quien le gusta ir a tomarse fotos y onda así. Los precios no son altos, pero me parecen inadecuados para harina y salseo como el 50% del menú.

El pan de entrada no tiene desperdicio, caliente y tostado solo no esperes balsámico y olivo. No, tampoco mantequilla.

Pedimos un crema de tomate rostizado pensando en disfrutar el pan recién hecho. Error: ácida, sin sazón. Junto a ello alcachofas (6/10, estaban escurriendo de hervidas pero muy vastas en alcaparras y aliño) y unas croquetas de flor de calabaza rellenas de queso en un espejo de salsa de tomate: meh, dejamos 2 de 6.

En este momento pensamos en que con referencia al pan de entrada la pizza sería un acierto casi obvio. Pedimos 2 y No decepcionan, pero no volvería por ellas.

Pensando en que ya estábamos allí y la intención es disfrutar pregunté por los mejores platos del Lugar. Nos trajeron “Costata di Manzo” que en mi entender sería un Rib Eye con hueso de la costilla , salseado.

No. Resultó una suerte de barbacoa de res, presentada como una gran albóndiga con el hueso de la costilla, ungido en una salsa obscura. Cumple y ya, me parece que fue lo rescatable de la experiencia pero tampoco volvería por ese plato.

También un rib eye añejo, flameado con mantequilla de foie gras. Ya saben, sospechosamente suave como salchicha o cualquier CUALQUIER paleta de res de San Juan o Ramos. Claro que era de esperarse y el error es mío, lo digo en serio.

Es decir, ningún alimento fue malo en sí (quizás la crema de tomate) pero la sensación de pude ir Pizza Studio, Bárbaro o inclusive Silvano se quedó en la experiencia de mi mesa. Ya conocí lo que ocupaba saber.

El servicio en mi caso fue esmerado, hasta que no pedí postre. Luego espere 15 minutos por mi cuenta, otros 5 para que me cobraran y hubo que pedir 3 veces la feria. Sin exagerar más de 20 minutos para poder retirarme, aún cuando tenían fila en los que esperaban por mesa.
