My family has been going to El Gaucho for a very long time. It is one of our favorite restaurants of all time, if not, our favorite. Having a meal there is always memorable. The food is unparalled even by some of the best restaurants from all over the world. The steak is my benchmark for steaks all over the world.
The staff and service is, on my opinion, the golden standard when it comes to restaurant service. In fact, it is my benchmark when dining out.
I really can't say enough good things of El Gaucho. I crave a meal there when I'm not in Monterrey, and I just know that a trip to Monterrey must include a visit to El Gaucho.
Prices are a little bit on the expensive side, but they are definitely worth the food on it's own, let alone the whole experience.
It has been recently remodeled, and now it's bigger and better than ever. It is no wonder how they have managed to be one of the best restaurants in town for over 50 years.
In conclusion, you cannot miss eating at El Gaucho when in Monterrey. In one...
Read moreEl Gaucho is and has always been a staple in the city and you HAVE to try it if coming from out of the city. It never disappoints. Try the house avocado salad (small it’s good for 4) and the empanadas (beef it’s a safe option). If you like spice get the piquín and lime salsa and put it on everything lol. Beware that the beef orders are massive, to where a full order can feed 6. The mixology program it’s on par with any other high end place. I would love to see a bit more range on the Mexican wine list including BC options. On previous occasions service has been spot on but this time the speed of service and time standards where a bit lacking. 15 min wait for a drink order and another 15 for the check at the end with an empty restaurant at the start, back to...
Read moreWorst experience in Monterrey and I visit the city at least 4 times a year and always this type of restaurants. We had a table booked and confirmed at the new one in Arboleda and they didn’t have it. They kept us waiting for 50 min telling us that some tables were paying already and leaving soon. I usually don’t wait at restaurants but I had clients that wanted to eat there so I couldn’t leave. When we finally got the table the food was ok, I’ve tried way better places, the service was average and when I wanted to tip only 10% (just as a gesture since I wasn’t happy with the overall experience) the waiter charged 15% just because he wanted to. I heard great things about this place but tbh I wouldn’t come back, there are way better restaurants...
