Iconic restaurant in Monterrey. 3 locations in town, this is the location located just south of Barrio Antiguo and the MacroPlaza. The atmosphere is very unique. Mosaic tiles and glass chandeliers grace the interior along with taxidermy animals like lions, deer, and bison. Service is great. Everyone is very attentive and informative to the guests needs. Servers came by with suggestions and asked if the party needed more refreshments. They were able to explain all the different cuts in Cabrito (young goat). They also have other meats like sirloin, ribeye, fajita. They have a great appetizer menu with many options. The menu prides itself on having Northern Mexico/Monterrey cuisines. The food has great overall. Chips and Salsa were given as soon as we sat. Salsas were spicy and flavorful. 5/5. The totopos or chips, were corn tortillas baked over charcoal. The ones we were given were passed itself freshness unfortunately. 1/5. We were given Frijoles Venenos, Beans with Pork Mole. 3/5. Purchased frijoles charros, 4/5. We purchased a mixed platter of Arrachera (steak fajita) and cabrito, along with grilled onions, tortillas and choice of potatoes or steamed veggies. This was our party's first time eating Cabrito. 4/5. Depending on the cut you receive, flavors vary. Biggest concern going in was if Cabrito was going to have a "gamey" taste but it doesn't. Texture reminded me of chicken with a hint of barbacoa. The Arrachera though. 20/5! The best steak fajitas I've ever ate. So flavorful. Easy to eat. Cooked to perfection. For dessert they brought out a dessert platter with 8 different desserts. We went for the cornbread cake.10/5! Delicious. Came out warm with pecans and cajeta drizzled. Best cornbread cake I've ever eaten. Definitely will come back for the Arrachera and desserts. Total cost with Tip for 3 people, including 2 cokes and 5 Micheladas was $110. Amazing for the experience and...
Read moreStopped in while we were on layover before heading to our destination. Having been to Monterrey before and not trying cabrito which it's famous for we decided to give this place a try. First off the place is huge it has lots for just parking so I assume it gets really busy. We came for lunch and it wasn't so busy. The food came out super quick so don't waste your time eating the salsa. We have the cabrito leg and the red sauce pork Birria. For me the pork in red sauce was a little salty. The cabrito leg was a little dry but flavorful. Bottom line you come here for the spectacle of seeing the place. Restrooms are clean and service...
Read moreA TYPICAL TOURIST TRAP. The service was fast to serve but waiters were busy chatting amongs them selves and paid no attention to service details. We had trash on our plates and table for more than 15 minutes and no one tried to remove it. The "tender meat" recommended as the best dish in the house, was hard as a shoe and very greasy. The evidence of famous celebrities being there was a sign that it used to be good 30 years ago. The place was very old decor, badly maintained and it could use an overall renovation. Quite frankly the value for the money was not fair. Not...
