Boca del Mar Zipolite — Restaurant in Oaxaca

Stopped by for lunch and came back for dinner. Both were GREAT. Try the fish tacos in tempura! Or the fish filet with lemon (which comes with very good mashed potatoes topped with sesame oil). Fresh fish, fresh vegetables, yummy hot sauce, and strong - as in two will get you more than tipsy - cocktails. And the prices are IMHO lower then the quality you get on your plate. So it's a bargain. If you are looking for quality food served at a reasonable price then this is the place. As a comparison: We also went to the fancy place at the end of the beach (the alchemist) and paid triple the money we paid in Boca Del Mar. And my overall sensation was not as good as it was in Boca del Mar. The alchemist doesn't have salt and pepper (the absolute basics of seasoning) and this place does. It's an undiscovered hotspot. Half of the tables were taken so you can still have a sense of private dining in the middle of the beach. And the service was personal and very friendly. Four cocktails and two plates for 600 Mexican pesos. One of the best and economic places I've been after one...

This is my favourite beach-side restaurant in Zipolite. I ate here half a dozen times during my most recent stay. The fish tacos and ceviche are to die for and the prawn dishes are superb. The food at Boca is much nicer than the neighbouring Sal y Pimenta, which serves similar dishes. There, the garlic prawns I ordered were tough and the garlic was burnt, whereas at Boca the prawns were plump and juicy and cooked to perfection. Three days in Zipolite, three days we had dinner here. Great tasty cuisine, relax ambience, friendly staff (gracias Ezequiel & team!), and you sit in front of the Ocean with spectacular sunset for the magic dinner. We had (among others): shrimp tacos, green salad, ceviche, steamed entire fish (catch of the day), pasta (al dente!) with rock crabs (jaiba) and shellfish, pasta with spinach and shrimps... white wine from Argentina, cocktails... all to our entire satisfaction and...
