Booking four meals with Copate Che was the best decision we made for our vacation in Playa del Carmen. I researched a few options for private chef service, and for the price point, creativity, quality and taste, you can’t beat the creations coming from Chef Rene’s kitchen.
The Chef and his lovely wife, Karla, were wonderful. Leading up to the trip, Karla was very responsive, friendly and flexible with the planning. They were also a pleasure to have in our home, full of smiles and helpful context when explaining the dishes, preparation and origination.
We selected the blind tasting package, and allowed the Chef to create whatever he wanted. This was the way to go. He was also able to work around the one person in our group with dietary restrictions, and it was seamless.
The two breakfasts were amazing… first day was chicken enchiladas with a cilantro cream sauce. The second was poached eggs over homemade biscuits with salsa roja and green sausage. All accompanied by beautiful fresh fruit spread and sweet breads.
Dinners were also amazing! Delicious starters of pesto ceviche and white fish tempura, main courses of stuffed quail and smoked seafood, and just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the desserts. You’ll have to try to find out! The wine pairing was also perfect.
The chef also had some interesting after dinner drink accoutrements… for the most adventurous members of the group. Mezcal with insect garnish!...
Read moreWe had breakfast and dinner, and both meals were exquisite. The breakfast was chicken enchiladas with a cilantro sauce. Dinner was a grouper pesto ceviche and quail with a mole foam. And don’t get me started with the dessert with the goat cheese and the hibiscus. All of it was amazing.
Then there is the icing on the cake which was how friendly they were. They answered any questions we had about the dishes and how they were prepared, and were absolutely lovely hosts.

Read moreWe were blown away by this place. Chef Pardo is quite fantastic, and delights in cooking and sharing his food art with an appreciative patron. He makes everything from scratch right in front of you, including the pasta (which is insanely good). There isn't a fixed menu at Copate Che as their specials change weekly. They range from Polish dishes to Argentinian dishes and almost everything in between.
